Tikolo Joins Southern Rocks
Thursday, 17 September 2009 19:18
KENYAN cricket icon and former captain Steve Tikolo is now set to arrive in Zimbabwe on September 31 to join Masvingo-based franchise Southern Rocks as a foreign professional player. Tikolo (38) was at one time regarded as the best batsman outside Test cricket.
“We have finalised the deal, Steve is coming as an overseas player” said Southern Rocks chief executive Givemore Makoni, adding that the franchise is in talks with former Zimbabwe youth internationals- Craig and Ryan Ervine and Stephen Marillier- all believed to be in the UK.
“We are now making arrangements for these three players plus two pace bowlers from Kenya and West Indies,” Makoni added.

Great to see Southern Rocks putting their hands up to make the team as strong as others.
Hopefully Craig Ervine, Ryan Ervine and Stephan Marillier will join the team as soon as their contract with respective UK clubs ends.
Interesting to notice, from the Ervine brothers Sean Ervine is missing and from the Marillier brothers, the elder one Douglas Marillier is missing. I just hope Douglas Marillier returns though he works in the Real Estate in Zim...

Fingers crossed... Still they are yet to play a game. They will be playing against Eagles form Sep 30th in the Logan Cup. All eyes will be definitely on the returnee players. It's amazing that they also have managed to build a good combination though they weren't on the news/limelight heavily.
