Re: Afghanistan Watch 2016-2018
So Afghans would play their first test against India at Bengaluru in June this year. Depending on how the rains are during the year, June could be pretty wet here in Bengaluru with heavy rains lashing pretty much every evening in a good rain year. But Chinnaswamy also has the best drainage system in the country and that could be put to test if anything. Would be interesting to see how India approaches this test.

I can't see Afghanistan making many runs with their current side, only Rahmat Shah looks like he has the right temperament for test cricket.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 7:45 amSo Afghans would play their first test against India at Bengaluru in June this year. Will be interesting to see how Rashid Khan goes though when players aren't trying to hit him for 6 every ball.

Nabi has the proper temperament too. Rahmat also seems decent. Perhaps Stanikzai who is shit in LOIs. Im sure they have young domestic guys who are better Test prospects than the guys we see in ODIs.
Guys in LOIs are just trying to see Rashid off and hes still taking wickets. Thats impressive. His T20 econ rate is probably under 5.

NZ U-19s well & truly dusted by the Afghans in the World Cup. And on their own turf!

Semi final against an inconsistent Australian side will be very interesting, would be amazing if they woncricket_22001 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 3:26 amNZ U-19s well & truly dusted by the Afghans in the World Cup. And on their own turf!

Afghans set to host Bangladesh for 3 ODIs in June ahead of their maiden Test against India.
BCB has sent a request to the BCCI to change the venue from the remote Dehradun to either Bangalore or Kolkata. Since June is the peak rainy season in Bengal, I think Bangalore would be best. Dehradun is in the same general region as Delhi, which gets up to 45 degrees in June. Another reason you might not want to play there.

I hate that format too. It isn't real cricket. I enjoy it occasionally but the volume of T20 cricket being played nowadays is outrageous!

I guess BD saw this as a golden opportunity to pass AFG on the T20 rankings. I think we've been below them for like 4 years, lol.
It would have much more sense to play 3 ODIs with the world cup coming up. Bangladesh seems to constantly shuffle their lineup (same players just different roles every series) which indicates that consistency is sorely lacking.

Re: Afghanistan Watch 2016-2018
As sad as it is t20 cricket is the way forward and will over time become the dominate format
- Much more exciting
- Helps attract the casual viewers
- Takes less time
- Cheaper to host matches
- Makes for a closer contest
- Already the biggest money maker
The closer contest aspect is the key for spreading the game globally, the shorter the contest the more likely of an upset, so if the ICC want to expand the game they will know t20 is the way to go.
