Re: Intercontinental Cup Thread (matches not involving Zim X

Post by maehara »

Ireland v Netherlands and Scotland v Afghanistan both begin today. The second of those is of most interest to us - a Scottish win would make out chances of qualifying for the final a little easier, but ironically would make it hard to top the table. Good chance Afghanistan will knock us down to third, though.

The other match is Netherlands' final fixture, and they're out of the running for the final. Ireland are still in with an outside chance of reaching it, though, if they can take full points from their remaining three matches - and since they've won the last three tournaments, they won't be wanting to give up their title without a fight...

Don't understand why Afghanistan didn't make Scotland follow-on. They then went on and left their declaration very late, and the Scots have an outside chance of batting through the day tomorrow for a draw - which really wouldn't be a far result. Strange tactics.
