Best Hat-trick ever?

Post by jaybro »

Came across this on YouTube, and just thought I’d put it out here to see what you guys think? Irfan Pathan bowling in a test match against Pakistan, first over of the match takes a hat-trick with the best swing bowling I think I’ve ever seen

That was pretty unreal. Amazing the bowler just disappeared after that breakout rookie year.

Yeah he was a genuine all-rounder prospect.

Eddo Brandes against England at Harare Sports Club is the best hat-trick ever, it is in fact the highest by total average of the batsmen dismissed. He was also the oldest bowler to get an ODI hat-trick. Virat Kohli himself would have had no chance against Eddo that day. There used to be footage of this match on the internet but I can no longer find it sadly.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Who did he get out?

Salman Butt, Younis & Yosuf would have a decent aggregate

Brandes dismissed Nick Knight, John Crawley, and Nasser Hussain. He also dismissed Alec Stewart and Mike Atherton in the same match.

Hmmmm I'd argue the quality of wickets Irfan Pathan took when looking at the batsman and their records is actually better Eddo's. Salman, Yousuf & Younis v Knight, Crawley & Nasser .... I'd take the Pakistan guys.

Either way when I asked the question 'Best HAt-trick ever?' I was referring more to the quality of the actual delivers and the swing Pathan was able to generate. I can't say I have seen the Brandes' one so I can't comment on that.

A true Zimbabwean fan would accept Eddo is superior to all others.
