Another day of fruitless toil for BD bowlers. They lack the consistency needed on flat surfaces. I could see the Indian bowling attack having SL 250-6 at stumps on this same track instead of 291-1 not because they'd magically get more out of the surface, but simply by bowling in the right areas.

That said, I think Shoriful bowled very well. Was quicker than I thought he'd be, consistently at 140 clicks in his first spell and in the mid to late 130s thereafter. More importantly, bowled the right lines, and got a bit of movement. Would be a handy bowler outside of Asian conditions.

SL will bat past tea tomorrow and declare at 600 is my guess. It will be up to Bangladesh to ensure they avoid the follow on, and stave off defeat.

Great session from BD to start Day 2. Just 43 runs conceded from 26 overs with 3 wickets.

The pitch is starting to turn, and SL still in position to target a 500 total. BD will have to keep the intensity up post lunch. A couple more wickets early and we could look to keep them under 450.

If the pitch keeps turning, SL might already have enough runs to set Bangladesh a difficult 4th innings target.

The decks are just too flat. A drawn series will be a good result for Bangladesh honestly.

Pitch is really turning now. Its all about putting the ball in the right areas and tossing it up.

Shanto falls for a 2nd consecutive duck after his big hundred. He is going to have to sort out his starting jitters (has 3 ducks from just 14 innings so far, and only 2 fifty plus scores). Definitely backing him, but this pitch isn't a minefield yet.

Tamim falls for his 2nd nervous 90s in this series! Unreal! Keeps his average ticking though. Its shocking how a batsman of his talent hasn't managed to average closer to 50. I think he can still play another 5-6 years, and assuming he bats in another 80 innings at an average of 50 will take his average to 43-44. Not bad for an opener, but he should end his career with a 45+ average.

Rain is most likely going to wash out 3 sessions of this match...early starts will probably only recover 1 of those sessions...so this will be almost a 4 day game. First task is to the avoid the follow on at all costs.

Yup! Pitch seems to be playing a lot of tricks now. I don't k ow how is the forecast but Bangladesh will need at least 2 sessions of rain from here on to have a chance of saving this game and series.

SL will probably declare an hour before tea. Can't discount some rain, and SL will feel 80 overs might be needed to knock BD over. SL are in the driving seat here...not even a snowballs chance in hell for BD to draw this match without rain. I don't want to see any rain though. I'd rather watch the cricket.

This Jayawickrama SLA is a terrific bowler. 10x better than Embuldenya who is bang average in my opinion.

At any rate, I want to see BD buckle down with the bat and push this game deep into day 5. They have the ability with Tamim, Mominul, and Mushfiq all capable of playing a long innings. Shanto and Liton need to come to party as well, and Saif should just try to bat 100 balls, cuz he ain't good enough to score 100 runs on any pitch against any attack.

SL batters making this wicket look easy. Lead over 400 now, and they are going at nearly 5 an over.

BD really should be embarassed if they can't give SL a good scare with the bat in the 4th innings.

Unless the rain comes big time Sri Lanka will win this test, they really got the best of the conditions in this one.

BD really shouldn't blame the conditions. The conditions didn't make Miraz and Taijul dart the ball in at 90 kph and the conditions didn't warrant a first innings collapse from 213 for 3 to 250 all out. The coin toss really shouldn't be allowed to be an excuse unless the pitch is crazy and there was nothing wrong with this pitch IMO. Bascially, there is a lack of direction as to how to approach the game, as well as a lack of skills in terms of facing spin bowling on turning tracks.

The only positives from this series was Shanto getting a big enough score to secure his spot in the team for the near future (important if we want any stability in the side, and also if we want to develop a batting talent for the next 15 years), Shoriful showed that he's got some raw skills to work with, and Ebadat consistently bowling around 90 mph albeit with control issues.
