2021 Word Test Championship Final

Post by Kriterion_BD »

Looks like a good contest brewing. If they get 250 overs they might be able to get a result here.

New Zealand are now confirmed as the best cricketing nation in the world, a truly remarkable achievement and one I never thought I would live to see.

Some of the nicest guys in that team. Deserve all their success. Kane, Southee, CdG have become some of my favorites over time. Latham, Wagner, Watling and others are dogged contributors too. How NZ selectors supported and developed Nicholls into a test player should also be a case study in itself.

Fantastic achievement! Sensational. 8 wicket win is a good solid thumping.

New Zealand are deserving champions, they have beaten India three tests in a row now. I guess the only thing missing from the resume is dominance in sub-continent conditions but no other team is exactly excelling in foreign conditions either.

Getting flogged 3-0 in Australia doesn't scream best in the world, and as you said they haven't beaten India in India either.

I'd say NZ are much like India where they are almost unbeatable in their own conditions, and very competitive anywhere in the world. I'd say the conditions in this Test suited NZ more so, I'd actually back India to beat NZ if the test was played in Australia they seem to have mastered the art of playing here.

Well done to NZ though, I don't think anyone has an issue with them winning, they're a very likeable side and are experiencing a golden age of depth I've never seen before for NZ. Credit to BMac who started the revolution of NZ cricket when he took over as captain and well done to KW for building on that and taking it to new heights.

If this side is going to be remembered as one of the best test teams, they really need a series win in either Aus or India for me, even a series win in South Africa would be good, I don't think they've won there before?

One can find flaws with NZ's record, but I don't think you can find another test team that is clearly better. Australia could not beat England in England or India at home, NZ has done both.

I reckon the difference between India and Nz is the top order and the openers specifically.

No one is saying Australia is the best team in the world though, for me India would be the best team overall taking into consideration overall performances in all conditions
