India and India A tour of Bangladesh 2022

Post by Kriterion_BD »

Indian A team touring Bangladesh, perhaps for the first time ever. I don't know if there has ever been an A series between these two teams. At any rate, two 4-day matches will precede the Test series, with first class matches played at Cox's Bazar (Chattogram) and at Sylhet. The two Tests will be played at Chattogram and Dhaka.

Also a 3 match ODI series (non Super League) to be played concurrently with the A series, before the Tests.

India have named a full strength side for both Tests and ODIs, minus the injured Jaspirt Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.

You’ve touched an area I’m interested in. And have recently been collating stats, since nothing else appears to be available.
Anyway, you’re right. India A has never previously toured Bangladesh. Bangla A did tour India in 2015/16 for one “test”, won by India by an innings & 3 ODIs (2-1 India).
This is there only A team encounter.

These are different places aren't they? Chattogram is formerly Chittagong. Cox's Bazar is elsewhere AFAIK.

Correct. CB is however located in Chattogram Division, about 100-150 km southeast of Chattogram, the city.

Just for giggles, does anyone want to guess which countries 'A' team has played most matches?
And which two countries have contested the most 'A' team "tests"?
Spoiler: India is not involved in either answer.

Also, after India & NZ played the test championship final last year, The Cricketer magazine had an article on the importance of A tours & how these two countries have upped the ante of this type of development. ZC should read it.

Bangladesh 112-9 batting first. Quite a poor performance. The Indian spinners in particular don't look very threatening. Mosaddek Hossain with a very good 63, but a poor way to get out. Has he done enough to get into the Test squad? I think he has.

India are not playing well and team selection is highly questionable. Bangladesh can push India esp in the ODIs.

India A in total command on Day 3. 436 for 5, a lead of 324 already. They have plenty of time to bowl Bangladesh out again.

BD batters need to step up on what appears to be a flat wicket.

Excellent fightback by Bangladesh A in the 2nd innings, ending day 3 at 172-1.

Shanto and Zakir need to go on and get to three figures, and Bangladesh will have to bat out the entire day if they want to salvage a draw. Looks like a pretty strong Indian bowling attack with two seamers having over 150 first class wickets each.

Kriterion, why is Tamim out of India ODIs?? And is Taskin presently injured?
