Unless Namibia somehow gain a lot of ground in a short space of time, I think Uganda will be the next country from Africa to play an ODI match.

Up until recently, I'd have agreed with you - but Uganda have had selection issues lately (they're not currently fielding their strongest side), while Namibia have been doing well against other Associates. They also reached the World Cup Qualifiers from the same WCL division that Uganda failed to, so on current form I'd have to say Namibia.

I think that Namibia may well qualify for the next world cup. Unlike Zimbabwe and Kenya, their players all seem to be reaching their peak around now. It seems unlikely that they will ever be able to push on to the next level though.

Uganda have a fair amount of potential. Their youth teams have an exceptional record against Kenya's, and very rarely lose. However, they then lose a lot of their players, as there is little money or structures of any substance there.

Namibia is probably the next best African team. Cricket has a repectable level of popularity there and there is still a sizeable and growing white population in the country to maintain a good player base while the game is being introduced to the black population.

A couple of years ago when Zim cricket was at its lowest ebb I thought Namibia may overtake Zimbabwe but I no longer think this is true as Zimbabwe have alot of good players coming through.

Namibia have a very good side. Luis Klazinga looks to be a fine bowler and with pace, not to mention the talent with the bat. Young Van Schoor is a very talented batter, i whatched him play a couple of years ago when i was on holiday in Namibia. Solid as a rock! And Jan Berrie Burger has a superb eye. Namibia need not to be underestimated, they'll play in another world cup, maybe not the 2011 one, but a world cup none the less. 8-)

why arent namibia better than Zimbabwe?

population similar to Zim.

10x more white people in the country 600,000 compared to 20,000.

Namibia is a former south african state...

So why arent they a force?
