I need a "go Zim" smiley that doesn't call for 6's or wickets..
Re: [Match Thread] Intercontinental Cup - Zimbabwe XI v Kenya
I pray I do man. At 280/7 we need 53 more runs for a first innings leads. I think if one of these guys sticks around we might just get there. This is with some surpport ofcourse. Rainsford got some runs on his home ground.Sir Mupariwa wrote:yeah never say never, Zimbabwe XI 250/7 Vusi 141....................lets hope they keep on keeping ontawac wrote:I might just have to eat my words. .

300 up, and I'm frankly amazed - don't you wish Vusi played like this all the time? Great support from Regis Chakabva, too. First-innings lead is just within reach - although not today...

Day Two close:
Kenya 333 (Tikolo 61, Maruma 3/82), ZimXI 320/7 (Sibanda 174*, Varaiya 2/65). ZimXI trail by 13 runs.

EDIT: Did I say close? Could've sworn they'd used up the overs for the day. Updated with the proper stumps score.

Whew! I was away and just finished reading the thread with bated breath. What a fightback. It's amazing how many of us foresaw the batting problems, and yet the selectors presumably didn't. Well done Vusi and Regis

All hail the man who saved our skin today:

Well done zimbo and in particular sibanda and chakbva, It must be remembered that it was a very poor show from the other batsmen and i would question the inclusion of players such as strydom and chibhabha when they havent set the world alight in the logan cup, Chibhabha in particular is having a very poor time of it form wise.
baffling also for masakadza Jnr and also maruma to bat high up the order when the ball is still quite new and presumably swinging around
Greg lamb or craig ervine should come in for strytdom next A match definetly

What an amazing day, it just shows once again that a day of cricket is never something that you can predict.
Top marks to Vusi Sibanda and Regis Chakabva, what a great fightback from these two, but well done to Forster Mutizwa as well for his innings which hepled to stop the bowlers taking complete control earlier in the day.
So close to a 1st innings lead now, hopefully we should be able to squeeze out another 14 runs in the morning without too much panic.

I for one would have never betted on Vusi being the man to take us out of jail. His form hasnt been great at all. But a great innings from him he should do this more often. I guess he might have done just enough to get a call up to the national side. Our top order is really not firing. This Zim XI doesnt look that strong and we have already mentioned about the batting line up. Im sure we will get the first innings lead now. And once we get that I think we may as well throw the kitchen sink and get a lead as fast as possible. Lets hope our bowlers come out guns blazing so that we have a chance to take this game.
All the same, what a come back!!!!!
