To be fair I don’t overly rate Burl. I used to, but he looks very limited most of the time. But he’s better than the guys he’s been warming the bench for all this time.
ZC polices, which you continually defend are the reason why we keep losing.

Re: [MATCH THREAD] Tri Series Game I Zim v BD
He’s sat out for a couple of seasons with shite domestic cricket that can’t prepare you for top flight cricket and he’s not as good as he could have been.
Re: [MATCH THREAD] Tri Series Game I Zim v BD
How are you blaming the coach?
Hes not on the field playing. These are men with vast international experience he’s got playing for him, they bottled that all by themselves....again!!
Re: [MATCH THREAD] Tri Series Game I Zim v BD
In the modern game, the coach is responsible for strategy - batting order, bowling order, batting strategy against particular bowlers, plus bowling strategy and field placings to particular batsmen. Captains are responsible for tactics. Any decent cricketer can apply tactics. That's why nowadays the captaincy is a revolving door, because Coaches have now assumed the same importance as eg football/soccer Managers.
Sean Williams opening the bowling was clearly the coach's strategy. Lachland's mind was set. As a result, Hami was playing catch up - trying to finish Williams & Burl overs before he could unleash his seamers. I guarantee you Hami would not have opened with Williams especially after he batted so easily against Shakib and that other fellow.
I blame Rajput.
Oh and another thing, leaving Mpofu out, which was silly, was definitely Rajput's fault.

Team selection is up to the selectors, unfortunately that process was corrupted here years ago. In most sides the captain realistically has a say in that from game to game in a series.
The bowling order is only set by the coach in lesser school sides. Sure they will discuss a provisional line-up and a strategy for each batsman, but it’s the captain’s job to think on his feet, improvise and change tack completely if it’s not going according to plan.
Batting strategy is the same. Provisionally discussed beforehand, but it’s up to the batters to make onfield decisions, especially if there’s a senior partner out there. at international level they should know what they’re doing, how to pace, who to see off and who to go after. Occasionally you’ll see some gloves being sent out if the coach/captain want it done differently.
If you’re blaming the coach you should really be laying it on Masakadza’s doorstep as well. That’s the problem with being a yes man. If he’d got a mobile call from Mukhulani he’d have listened to him first!
It was a close good game, no denying, but we don’t know how to win. I’m just saying a good captain would have made the difference, I’m not blaming Masakadza in particular, I don’t think we’ve had a good captain for years. The problem is they themselves need to be doing well or it’s just too much to cope with.

Re: [MATCH THREAD] Tri Series Game I Zim v BD
Apart from the form of Williams & Ervine with the bat this year the only bright has been Ryan Burl, what a game with bat, ball & fielding !!! That catch was incredible & his 30 run over was boss.
Lack of bowling options killed them in the end, playing Mutombodzi & Munyonga at 7 & 8 really requires one if not both to bowl, especially considering Raza isn’t there.
You claim the clueless or corrupt selection committee for the lack of options, if anyone can explain to me why you would pick two keeper batsman in Regis & Richmond in the squad when neither are suitable T20 batsman, and when you have BT already in the side

Maybe if they had someone like Chisoro or Mashinge in the squad they could have played instead of Munyonga, therefore giving Hamilton another bowling option.

Neither do IKriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 4:24 pmIts hard to tell who has the more awkward looking bowling action between Chatara and Madziva.
Never knew why jabro likes Madziva so much.
Nah I guess it’s just how he loves to compete & he’s had a few match winning performances despite limited chances. No doubt his action is odd, his domestic form has been underwhelming & he’s no world beater, but he’s a hustler & he seems to always be amongst the wickets.
I like the way he goes about his cricket.

I agree with Googly. No matter how much a coach may plan ahead, captains should be smart enough to think on the field. If they just follow a set plan and not have alternate options, says more about the captain than the coach.
It's also interesting how all of us on here have our 'favourites' so to speak. Encore hates Burl. Taps hates Ervine. I'm not a fan of Hammy. Googly likes Williams.....etc etc etc....It's like, no matter what these guys do, we will always judge them. Harsh on the players I guess, but I can say that majority on here will eat their words if a players proves them wrong. Some will just continue to demand players be dropped regardless.

It all comes down to mentality. That winning mentality. Hami doesnt have it unfortunately.
And yes Zimbos I dont like Ervine after the UAE defeat last year. Im sorry i just cant unsee it. That game literally changed our destiny. Almosy everything that has happened in the last 18 months was because of that loss. Losing blessing mire and cremer, suspension etc
