Match Thread 1st ODI Bangladesh v Zimbabwe

Post by zimfan1 »

Six of the top seven are likely to be over the age of 30. We have no pace bowlers or specialist spinners. Don't think I have ever gone into a ODI series with such little hope.

I will still be watching though ;)

Welcome to Sylhet, folks.

ZIM have happy memories of this ground beating BD by 150+ runs in a Test match not so long ago.

BD hasn't played an ODI in 5-6 months, and are in very poor form as well, so I think the first game could be close as well. If we bat first, we will probably only win by 100 runs or so. Chasing 7 wickets with 10 overs to spare.

Zimbabwe are often good for an upset in the opening match of a series. Our form tends to get worse as series progress oddly enough.

Apart from the 2018 ODI win over Sri Lanka at Mirpur I cant remember the last time Zimbabwe won an ODI in Bangladesh??

2018 3-0

2018 tri series lost 3/4

2015 3-0

2014 5-0

Was it possibly 2010 or 2009 when they won the 1st ODI defending around 204?

My Zim XI:

1 Chibhabha (C) Default
2 Kamunhukamwe
3 Ervine
4 Taylor (WK)
5 Williams
6 Raza
7 Maruma
8 Madhevere
9 Mpofu
10 Mumba
11 Tsuhuma

Mutambami, Mutambodzi, Maruma & Chibhabha are not decent picks in the squad imo. Missing Mavuta.

Taylor won't play wk, so Mutumbami will come in to the squad.
