Jongwe hasn't been in the wilderness. He's been playing in the UK.
Selection wilderness, it's a turn of phrase mate
Yeah well he has the stats from the UK so it's not a left field/bad selection
What stats? I doubt the selectors are going off his club numbers in England from two seasons ago 😂

Why shouldn't they? This T20 tournament was only like what 4 games? Hardly enough to get a real feel. Selectors should look at all the info. Glenn Maxwell did bad last ipl tournament but now he is dominating this one
You can't look at one series in isolation.
I'm sure the selectors are looking at the blokes bowl in nets.

They also picked Solomon mire off Australian grade experience so they have done it before

Apparently they picked Chivanga cuz he’s got “pace”. I’m sure 138kmh gun barrel straight half volleys will be enough to subdue Fakhar and co...

What were his stats in England? What level of cricket was he playing? Mire was playing in Melbourne A Grade which would be stronger than Logan Cup overall I reckon.

I understand the 5 games was a small portion, but what exactly has made the selectors decide to pick Jongwe after leaving him in the ‘wilderness’ for 5 years?

Look I like Jongwe and I’m glad he’s back in the side so I don’t want to rubbish him, I’m just trying to work out the thinking to why he was picked & what role he’s going to play?

Worth remembering Chivanga was specifically scouted by ZC and brought back to Zim from the SA scene - we were always going to see him in this series. Apparently he was consistently bowling 140kph+ when in SA. Not sure of his pace in Zim recently but hopefully he can find that extra gas again.

Also I think they consider him a death overs specialist. So I can see that they are trying to build a modern T20 side and get people to fill specific roles. Let's see how he does.

Jongwe & Mufudza are the really weird selections!

Ok cool, well let’s see how he goes, but he wasn’t impressive vs locals this past week.

Mufudza will get hammered. Chisoro is obviously still a big enemy of someone important. Our best option my a mile.

Chisoro is unstable, It’s not like he threatens quality batsman.

Chisoros international record is ten times better than the next grouping of spinners. He’s economical
