True, because from age 18 to about 28, Cremer was also very terribleRajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 3:45 amBrandon Mavuta going @7, few years ago he was seen as replacement of Cremer, even few rated him as better then Cremer after his success in test series against Bangladesh.
He is struggling after being in & out of the team, and at present is struggling to pitch the bowl in that offstump length that creates doubt in batsman's mind wheather the delivery would be gentle leg spin or a decaptive googly, as accuracy matters for leg spinners. A leggie always requires suport from a captain and selectors during his hard times as confidence plays an important role for his success.

People forget this part. I'm actually surprised Burl has as much control as he has at his ageCholeZimbo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 4:56 amTrue, because from age 18 to about 28, Cremer was also very terribleRajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 3:45 amBrandon Mavuta going @7, few years ago he was seen as replacement of Cremer, even few rated him as better then Cremer after his success in test series against Bangladesh.

We have so many leggies that just forget legspin after a season or two. How is it possible to just go completely blank like that? Maruma, Mutombodzi, Mushangwe to name a few and now Mavuta is pretty much getting added this list. We also had the non-spinning leggie in Kamungozi.
Burl is gold given all this. Yes, he seems to have better control than even Cremer.

Look at the head position of Burl & Mavuta. Burl head position is leading the shoulders, hips and his non-bowling arm is directly towards the target, the delivery stride is little more than shoulder width, hence he has got more control whereas Mavuta head is getting tilted position with respect to shoulder, bowling hand is also not close enough to shoulder, with the arm getting little tilted and his back and front heels are also not aligned as a result he is struggling to put the ball in right area.

What is the worst that can happen?
SA A will go hammer and tongs later in 3rd day's play to force an outright win and in the process gift some wickets to Mavuta. Mavuta gets selected for the BD test on the back of those "wickets". Then we have carnage at Queens.

With Wesley, Butt, Williams, Burl, we have we now have a handful of genuine spin bowlers who are more than capavle batsmen. Who need specialist soun bowlers??

The players themselves should absolutely play every game to win whether its an international, A team game, domestic match, or U-19 level. But the fans really should only care about the national team performance, at the end of the day.
Everything else is just a means to that end.

Winning cricket matches is a skill. So these A matches are preparation to win matches. Shumba innings was not how you win test matches. Given where the match is now headed, repeating that innings is now required to save the game.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 9:28 amThe players themselves should absolutely play every game to win whether its an international, A team game, domestic match, or U-19 level. The two lead spinners have bowled 31 overs between them and the part timers have bowled 25. What a waste of selection. We might as well have played Chipungu, or used this as an opportunity to give game time to national team regulars for a shoot-out between Chisoro and Wellington.
