Myers charges down the crease and hoists Mehidy for a massive six over long on boundary. A fine straight drive for four off Taskin followed by an assertive maximum off Mehidy, he really is the future for Zimbabwe. As regards Taylor, he was flirting with danger with too many aggressive shots and finally paid for it.
This is going to sound like an incredibly obvious statement (and it is), but if Zimbabwe had just managed to break that stand between Mahmudullah and Taskin, this would be a very very different game. The seamers capitalised on the assistance provided by the pitch early on day one, and now the batsman have done a good job of cashing in once the pitch flattened out. It was just the sessions in the middle where it didn't go to plan!
For a team like Zim, it is remarkable that as many as 15 people have scored more than 50 runs on their debut. Two of them going on to get hundreds, Houghton and Masakadza. Both Flowers got 50+ too. The most recent debutant with a 50+ score being the guy Kaitano replaced, Kasuza.
Heck, Taylor throws it away!
10 Zimbabweans out of which four were openers as per my understanding
It is 15. Some would have hit it in the debut match, but second innings - like Hamilton. Probably you did not count those?
Yeah, I excluded 3rd & 4th innings. Gavin Rennie for eg scored 50 in 3rd inn of the test against Kiwis. Anyways, only three openers before Kaitano have achieved this feat. So all the accolades for him

I think the rumours that he is mentally checked out of Zim cricket is true... He's batting with zero effs given
Taylor always seems to bat in a high risk mode. He's always playing lofted shots and reverse sweeps. Its almost a miracle he's scored as many international runs as he has.
Myers looking the goods so far. Kaitano batting as slow as he is to me indicates that he's got limited strokeplay.
1-95 in that session at 3.65 runs per over. Not good enough for BD although this is now an absolute pancake of a wicket. We'll need at least 3 wickets in the afternoon to make for that. Need to have 7-8 by stumps at the very least.

Kaitano does have some good range of strokes in his repertoire, he glanced, pulled, drived and sweeped BD bowlers for fours. I think he will chance his arms once he crosses that three digit score. He has a brilliant temperament

Leave Kaitano alone, he's probably batted the best out of all our players. He has and is doing wonderful. What a little gem, looks better than prince and Kazuza
Ryan Burl is a goid leggie, what happened to him?? Is Zimcricket punnishing him for the shoes thing?? If so, its a shame that Puma has more faith in our players than Zimcricket
Despite some of the conspiracy theories on here and on social media, he is injured - not 'punished'. 100%. He has confirmed it himself in person from his own mouth. Had a finger injury originally and now I think its a broken hand/wrist.
