I was referring to his Irish ancestory in my earlier post. He has options and when I say the clock is ticking, I'm referring to our clock, as in getting him back. Yes he's out of contract but he's a serious player and could easily go to a smaller county like Leicestshire or Derbyshire.
I doubt we'll ever see Byrom represent Zimbabwe, although Schardendorff and Nick Welch I honestly believe could be seen in the red a few years from now.
Ben Curran, meh, maybe. He tore Ben stokes apart in a royal London game last month, so I reckon he'll get another contract
Jayden Schardendorff is interested in playing for Zim from what I hear. May see him in Zim this winter.
Curran will get another contract, finished the season well.
As I've said before, I've got it on pretty good authority that Nick Welch has every intention, at some stage in the next 3 years, to make himself available for Zimbabwe. Coupled with (hopefully) Ryan Murray signing with a franchise next year and the emergence of the current crop of youngsters, I don't feel too aggrieved about Bawa in that there's still a lot of time for him to commit to Zim. The clock is ticking for Byrom however
what do you mean about time running out for byrom? Isnt he still hella young
He's had an absolutely dreadful season. Out of contract in a few months and will need to decide if he wants to join a franchise and give Zim a go. Think he will struggle to get another contract in England unless he finds form in the last chunk of county matches. B Curran & Melton out of contract too. Interesting to see what they do.
Byrom is complicated though because he has an Irish passport, so Ireland could also be another option for him.
Melton is an interesting one, not sure he has much invested in Zim unlike the others, grew up in South Africa.
Ben Curran (Northants, contract expires this year)
Dane Schadendorf (Notts)
Nick Welch (Leics)
Eddie Byrom (Somerset, contract expires this year)
Dustin Melton (Derby, contract expires this year)
Shane Snater (Essex & Netherlands - seems pretty happy playing for them)
Ryan Higgins (Gloucs. He’s the best of the lot. Should be playing for England in Stokes' absence tbh)
Gary Ballance (lol no chance)
Tawanda Muyeye (Kent. Absolutely zero chance - burnt all bridges with Zim)
We’ve then got PJ in Ireland. Alistair Frost has popped up in club cricket and in Ireland. Brad Evans club cricket but coming back for Logan Cup apparently.
Ryan Murray has supposedly signed with a franchise already. Has he played club cricket recently, anyone know?

I still think Welch will play for Zimbabwe one day.
The system is nowhere near as broken as it once was. I met the hierarchy in 2009 when I was out there and it felt like Marshall law when I was there.
There seems to be a concerted effort with the current administration to reconnect with school cricket, as well as some of the lost corporate sponsors of years gone by.
The salary of Makoni and Co is a joke, I agree, but something good appears to he happening behind the scenes.

Byron is in trouble at Somerset. Not scored a run all season and think his contract is up next year.
He may throw his lot in with Ireland though with his shamrock passport.
Thats more likely, although Irish cricket has regressed significantly
I thought they were getting better? Why do you say that
Jayden Schadendorff isn't good enough, period. He'll be a welcome addition to the FC system but he is way off the pace as a batter, so too is Frost. They're going to score runs at FC level, sure, but they aren't international quality. I've seen Jayden live and my honest assessment is that he won't cut it

They had a golden era really between 2006 and 2012 when a lot of their players were peaking. Now they've retired or thinking of retiring, the young lads coming through haven't really filled the void. They'll always be competitive because of who the Irish are, its in their blood. Tector is decent but I don't see them ever reclaiming their past glory. Even at the 2015 CWC they beat the West Indies and exceeded all expectations.
