Tanaka Chivanga
Tanaka Chivanga
Seems to have hit a sweet spot with his bowling past two matches. A 6 wicket and 4 wicket haul. How do we rate him on the forum?
Re: Tanaka Chivanga
A genuine pacer, the only "problem" is his age. Where was he all these years when we had to be content with Mpofu, Anthony Ireland and other 120km/hr trudgers?

Chivanga was 15 when Ireland last played for Zim . And Mpofu and Ireland could crank it up to late 130s for sure. But yeah, get your point. You should probably be mentioning the likes of Taurai Muzarabani, Keegan Meth, Mike Chonouya, Donald Tiripano in that pace range. Seems like a late bloomer.

my bad. I guess I'm showing my age. Those were the darkest days for seam bowling in Zim cricket

Re: Tanaka Chivanga
Quite the contrary in fact. 2005-2007, we had Ireland's pace and seam movement, Rainsford 's pace and swing, Chigumbura's raw pace (he was hitting 135+ regularly) and Panyangara at his best before his injury. At the 2007 world cup I remember Geoffrey Boycott on commentary salivating at the accuracy and brilliance of our opening pair of Rainsford and Ireland - but did not shy away from saying that his grand mum would bat batter than the Zimbabweans . So it was our batting that was absolute shit and they were indeed the darkest days of Zim batting.

Another 5 wicket haul for Chivanga which is good to see.
