Zim Women's Cricket Thread
Re: Zim Women's Cricket Thread
Bravo and Gayle deserve to be playing to a full stadium, absolute icons of the T20 game. Incredible. Thanks for the memories.

PNG Ladies have withdrawn from the qualifiers in Zim as half their squad have tested positive for covid before departure from PNG.

Re: Zim Women's Cricket Thread
Thailand Women are playing several unofficial warm-up games this week against a mixed-gender Rhinos U19 team at Kwekwe this week.
Meanwhile the Netherlands and USA women are training at Old Georgians and I hear are possibly playing an Eagles invitational side there at some point in the next few days?
PNG pulling out may mean they don't need to play that supposed official warm-up at Country Club? Although perhaps one of the teams is based there for training still? If anyone else hears where any of the teams are based or who they are playing unofficially then let us know.

The Rhinos junior boys and girls beat Thailand today
And Old Georgians taught the Dutch women a lesson. I'd be a bit suspicious of that Dutch Number 10 'lady' called Steve, though!

Re: Zim Women's Cricket Thread
Clear gulf between these two teams but honestly the ladies have done pretty well to recover and post 121 after being 2-2 in the first over. More than doubling their score from the last game. They've got a long way to go but I'm sure they are learning a lot.
Re: Zim Women's Cricket Thread
It's clear that our women are not up to the standard. Not sure if it is a coaching thing or a skills thing, but the amount of push and game time they have been getting, their should be some kind of improvement.

Re: Zim Women's Cricket Thread
Think you are being ridiculously harsh....
Until about two months ago they weren't even paid! Theres only a small handful of domestic women's games each year, and almost no schools play it. It's frankly remarkable that we have a team at all, considering women's cricket barely existed until earlier this year I think they are doing pretty well. They are very new to this level of competition.
If you missed it, they won their first ever ODI in history last month beating Ireland. Bangladesh are a clear step up and ranked higher - 8th in the world. Our ladies don't even have a ranking yet, being so new to ODI cricket.
