We were supposed to have 2 T20Is in SL as well but they've been cancelled as SL need to go to Oz early and quarantine, so theres no time. So it's a very quick tour for us.
Afghanistan series is possibly delayed again. They clearly don't want to come. Sounds like we have several more tours in the pipeline in 2022 too though so hopefully plenty of cricket.
Afghans are such a crap. I think their players just want to be available for PSL. They obviously won't risk playing a depleted side against Zim just like they did during BBL.
Different sets of rules for different folks. Their stance against women should get them banned from every sporting arena.
Pardon me for being smug, but now you might understand 1% of what a an unequal world with privilege for some feels like. At least this is just a sport/entertainment. Afghan Cricket brings considerable more money to the game than Zimbabwe...by keeping them in the game, some of the revenue will invariably trickle down to teams like Zimbabwe.
On one hand, it’s good to a fixture scheduled against a full member. On the other hand, a paltry 3 ODI matches?? Really?? Travelling all the way to the subcontinent, manuevering through tedious Covid-19 rules and bio-bubbles just for 3 matches?? No wonder Taylor called it quits!! They could have squeezed in a once-off test and 3 T20s to make a proper tour out of it. I’m starting to believe that some of these not-so-strong full member nations want a Zim “series” only when it helps them improve their rankings which guarantees them automatic qualification for the next ODI World Cup

These are Super League matches. Meaning they were drawn up in the schedule way before Sri Lanka "needed" points for qualification. At the same time, yes, there may be an element of skimping on ZIM because they are a lower ranked side. At the same time, ALL of the ICC member nations have gone for the split tour system a few years ago - back before COVID was a thing. Teams rarely play Tests/ODIs/T20I all in a single tour. Instead they break it up for logistical reasons (makes tours shorter, allows for format specific squads to travel, allows for all the T20 franchise leagues to exist).
Bangladesh toured NZ for just white ball in March-April, and now are touring for Tests. Its essentially the same tour and in years past would have been played all together. However the cricketing landscape is significantly different now than even 2010. The pandemic will only be further cause of change. Its not a conspiracy against Zimbabwe IMO.
