Our Women are due to playing a tri-series with Namibia and Uganda in Windhoek at some point this year too. Suggests warming relations with our fellow Africans

A mooted white-ball series against Zimbabwe in the Top End later could pose more club versus country dilemmas for Cricket Australia, after the country’s Test stars were ruled out of the start of the Indian Premier League just days before the lucrative mega auction.

The Age and Sydney Morning Herald can reveal plans are being drawn up for Australia to host their first men’s international in Darwin in 14 years. Should the August games go ahead, they would clash with England’s fledgling league The Hundred, which is likely to be on the radar of the nation’s best limited-overs players.

Agents were recently notified of the possible addition to Australia’s 2022 international schedule, which has implications on whether players sign up to The Hundred draft.

But there is talk among industry sources Australia may not field a full-strength team against a nation placed 14th and 11th on the one-day international and T20 rankings respectively.

It is unclear in which white-ball format the matches would be, but they effectively replace the postponed three-game ODI series between the nations originally scheduled for August 2020. The national men’s team last played in Darwin in 2008 when an ODI side led by Michael Clarke defeated Bangladesh 3-0.

That last paragraph might suggest there could be some T20Is as well. Hopefully that's the case.
