USA vs Tuskers A

Post by CalZim »

USA are playing 2 warm up matches against a tuskers A side today and Saturday.

Doubt its streamed but you can see the matches on the Zim app, and cricinfo will probably post the final score card.

Interested to see what side the tuskers side put out but should be some good experience against a national side.

16 players listed so can imagine everyone will take part with it being a friendly:

V Nyauchi
E Masuku
N Mavayo
B Phiri
I Musekwa
N Mpofu
D Mboyi *
T Maposa
C Dube *
T Makoni
M Dube
P Sithole *
T Nunu
M Mdlongwa
N Gogodo *

Players highlighted with a * are those I don't know much about. A couple of Zimbabwe fringe players in there. Will be good for experience.

I would imagine that side will get royally fucked by a national side.

Gogodo is an u19 I think.

Have Mayavo and Nyauchi joined Tuskers?!

USA made 7/438 , 2 players retiring after making a ton as well. That is an absolute belting

Seems strange unless they are just playing to make the side more competitive.

Expected better by Nyauchi today, shouldn't be slapped around like that, almost glad he didn't make the cut for the WC.

It's crazy to think that by August Chatara, Chivanga and Nyauchi will all be in their 30s. Not a good age for most fast bowlers. There has to come a point where some of these guys shouldn't be prospects in the A team anymore.

But who is there, genuinely, coming through..? There's no real quick bowlers to choose from and even those who are quicker than the rest aren't taking wicket domestically

I've just watched a clip of Zimbabwe and England from the 2003 Lords test match. In that side you had Streak, Ervine, Blignaut and Friend, all very vert capable seamers (Streak being ahead of rest) who could crank it up a bit when needed. They were all also genuine all rounders. Now we literally only have Evans and Jongwe to choose from, in the country...

It's sad seeing those clips because it just reminds me how far we've actually fallen. Even when this test was being played, back in Zimbabwe there was pace bowling depth with Jordan Nicolle, Panyangara (in the under 19's) Bennett, Brent, Mahwire (wild but had a yard) and Leon Soma.

Sorry...off topic
