One concern is that we will just end up like the Netherlands if we accept players from across the world all the time, i hope this is a one off.

Even Kenya have started to turn into a team of Pakistan/India rejects, all because of the financial backing. They will soon lose the core Kenyans and have no young players coming through to replace them other than offshore players.
Hmmm even those two examples are different as well though aren’t they. Most of the Dutch lads either have some Dutch blood/heritage or moved there at a young age for non-cricket reasons.

I don’t know much about the Kenyan Asians - I just assume they are all local guys - there’s quite a big south Asian population there, always has been. They are probably Kenyan in reality. Either way, they aren’t moving there just for cricket careers are they?

If Naqvi does 3 years residency first then I guess most people will be fine with that.
BUT if we just hand him a passport say this year…..That’s unprecedented. Totally unprecedented. There are no other prominent examples. He has 0 connection with Zim whatsoever. Not even a distant auntie or great great great grandmother he can claim. He’s a nobody. A total mercenary. That’s really hard to support.

I really do get your point, as much as I like him as a player, we need to consider the impact on Zimbabwe cricket.

Takes the shine off having a Zimbabwean passport if someone can just be handed one after being in the country 5 minutes. He needs to work for it.

If Naqvi is made to do his time then their should be absolutely no argument against his right to play from anybody. It's up to the local players to get better , the fact that the 3 best players are nearly 40 years old is proof of that. What is crucial though is trying to stop the bleeding of the talented ones leaving. Not sure how this can be done but getting Nick Welch back is a great start.

Nick welch is a great example of the fact we've moved on as an organisation. I watched his younger brother and he's the next big thing in my view. What a a set of batters these two are.

Bennett I'm still unsure of. Looks very wooden but clearly has amazing hands a great eye. Hopefully he stays entrenched in the system and gets lots of opportunities.

There's a genuine group of young batters here now which need to keep pushing for national honours

So assume Antum gets his diplomatic passport next week and "selectors" give him a thumbs up, where does he bat?
He appears to favor the No 3 spot.
Curious what you guys think.

Do you think ZC will be comfortable in having more white players in the squad? Esp since Ervine and Williams are still around?

Personally I think we're past that.
