We all know everyone will be patting the openers on the back and they are sitting there thinking they did a good job, but the reality is that their run rate and SR in T20 is not good enough. It set us up to fail. You limp to a decent total then expect the batters who come in after to motor and get to a big score, but they are not set and they are under more pressure, so they don't do that job.
We need a massive mentality shift. That is going to be Sammons toughest job. We have talented players, who become half decent and then decide that that is good enough. No need to go better than that. Why try to hit 60 runs when 30 is good enough for Zim standards.

A team with a winning mentality would try open with Raza. He comes off maybe once every 4 or 5 games. In those games that he does we would have a chance if he opened. These guys are showing us how you deal with a power play. Get Burl in to take his place in the middle order

India showing how it's done. you start strong then you can take your foot off the pedal and control the innings.
We do the opposite. Start slow and then try to put the foot on the pedal, but we just play stupid shots and lose wickets and end up with a sub par total.
It's so fucking infuriating supporting this team.

Raza opening would solve all that

I wonder if Salmon will look around to see if there's anybody in our system that can go at better than a run a ball or will he rely on Mutendira and friends to serve up the players they desperately want to succeed.zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 1:06 pmWe all know everyone will be patting the openers on the back and they are sitting there thinking they did a good job, but the reality is that their run rate and SR in T20 is not good enough. The groundsman is getting better and better at serving up decks that are absolutely ideal for India.

So after 8 international t20s Faraz Akram now has a bowling average of 100 with an economy of over 10.
Remind me what the selectors see in this guy?
