Logan Cup Round 8: Mountaineers vs Rocks & Tuskers vs Eagles (8th-11th March)

Post by zimfan1 »

Innocent Kaia on a great run of form at the moment. Looks like Matthew Welch is done, can't get into a 15 man squad these days.

Shame that Derbyshire have cancelled their pre season tour due to the war in the Gulf. Were supposed to be playing an "A" side.

Mike Frost 2 man of match last week, cant get a game either.
I think the the writing is on the wall for a lot of the white Rhodesian cunts.

I didn't hear about that! Real shame, surely they weren't going to travel via Dubai! UK to SA flights are surely pretty normal?!!

If Welch has got anything about him, he will bounce back. Name a cricketer that's never got dropped! He'd still walk into some of the other franchise sides. If you're "done" after getting dropped for the first time in your career at age 22, you probably didn't have the minerals anyway. Vigne Cup and then NPL on the horizon. Score runs, shove it down people's throats.

Went for 3 seamers/1 spinner, rather than 2 and 2. Not looking like a great call, as Kamuriwo has suffered so far. I do like him though, I think he'll carve out a career for himself.

Masekesa has not had a great season. It could very easily be argued that he should have been left out rather than Frost. You'd assume that Masakadza will come back in for the last 2 games as well. For all that Ali Hasnain and Ali Asfand are good bowlers, I'm not sure that overseas left-arm spinners were really required this year.

Massive knock for Inno Kaia. He'd actually had a very poor first half of the LC campaign, and actually got left out. Great run of form across formats the last couple of weeks though.

Also... Good to see Kuda Macheka making a comeback (and making the Eagles already his third franchise...).

Always thought that his ceiling looked somewhat higher than most seamers in the system, but injuries have really hampered him. Only 25, so time still on his side.

I think if anyone is unhappy at the Mountaineers they should move to the Tuskers. Clear gaps there that can be filled quickly. They are struggling.

Having Kaia back in the mix would allow us to move Bennett to number 4. That is probably where he will have to play anyway when the senior players retire. Can't have your best batsman out early with nothing on the scorecard. I think its worth a try.
