Michael Clarke triple century
What an innings.
Having made 151 on debut in India, following it up with a 6-fer and then another century in his first Test on home soil it's been clear that he is a quality cricketer and I've never thought Clarke has had to prove anything (proof that I'm not a bandwagoner!). But he has had his detractors for a long time so perhaps this innings will prove to be a defining moment in-so-far as that goes.
His declaration reminded me a bit of Taylor's in the Bangladesh Test. Not that there was any question about there being enough runs on the board in this case, but it was earlier than most people expected and it again involved the captain sacrificing the chance of building an even bigger score.

Re: Michael Clarke triple century
it was a great innings to watch, Clarke could of easily have past Lara's 400. He just never looked like going out. The way the match is going now he could of kept batting but to declare then was the right thing to do.
Re: Michael Clarke triple century
I don't think there was any reason to declare when he did. They won well inside 4 days. Except for wanting a day off.

What a summer for Clarke, a double century to go with his triple. Deservedly the man of the series.

I've always liked this guy. Am very happy for him. He's strating to truly live up to his potential. His counter-attacking century against SA, with his colleagues failing against against arguably the best attack in world cricket, remains his best for me!

I agree with Hhm that his hundred against South Africa in those tough conditions was by far his best
Re: Michael Clarke triple century
Good to see another big score. I was worried Clarke had the Mark Waugh habit of never going on with his tons.

I can't believe nobody is talking about this! Clarke is in superb touch
Back to back double centuries for Clarke against South Africa - his form is so good that he's surpassing Don Bradman in some statistics. Clarke is the only batsman to score four double centuries in a calendar year, Bradman and Ponting have each done it 3 times.

Re: Michael Clarke triple century
Indeed, unprecedented stuff from Clarke. In fact, Mr. Cricket is scoring a 100 almost every time he comes out to bat, but that is getting overshadowed completely with this massive run of form of Clarke

Re: Michael Clarke triple century
Thats shocking! He is still batting at 5, and Mr. Cricket at 6. What a disgrace! How can they live with themselves? Time to step up like a real macho and face the music in the top three!!!
