Yeah, saw that. If what he is saying is true, then this prejudice against him is far more brutal than him getting frequently dropped from the team. Which genius thought an Utseya or a Chigumbura (twice, no less) was more suited to captaincy than him all these years? How could someone be perennially vice captain while others overtake the designated vice captain for nearly a decade?Conant wrote:This is very strange from Hammy:

Totally contradicting everything we have been saying about Hammy and the captaincy, ie him being reluctant to take it up.

It seems odd since he really was the 'poster boy' they were after, first black batsman to score a century on debut no less .....

Just realised in Elton's 2 stint's as captain he only lasted 23 months in total, very much the reluctant leader .....

Utseya was totally compliant - perhaps Hami isn't. Chigs seems to be maleable as far as back room stuff is concerned. That is plenty to explain the situation for me. For years we have been stuck with those two when neither should have been near the captaincy.CrimsonAvenger wrote:Yeah, saw that. Finally we have a decent setup, best two for the job finally have it. Best available coach in place. Now if we can just put our best team on the park for a while...
Re: Your new captain and vice captain
Does this mean it's safe to say Cremer will be sticking around? If this is true, and Williams is staying put as has been mentioned else where, then does that mean the rumours of a defection are centred around Ervine?

Yesterday the players were taken through a 12 kilometer road run by bowling coach Makhaya Ntini and will hold a net session today.
This is a welcome approach to the teams fitness and mental strength, I hope to see improvements in this as Ntini is a fitness fanatic
