Flakeman, I like that team. Especially considering that the crop a couple of years younger also have some talent.

The sad thing is that it is likely that less than half of that lot will probably have an extended career in Zim.

The most important thing is not to repeat the same mistake of 2004.

Learn the lesson and dont overdump players into the team, gradually ease them in a couple at a time so they arent overawed, otherwise their development will be stunted.

Retain Craig,Willo,Hammy,Raza,Cremer and as much as i hate to say it, Panyangara and Chatara, then fit in the rest with youth.

I certainly like this approach. See how Madziva has put in some match winning performances. The likes of Elton, Vusi, Waller seem to have peaked and we cant really expect much from them. Having one or two youngsters being blooded in the team will do a world of good. Moor seems to be getting an extended run but he really should keep to open up another stop Mutumbami is really hot and cold all at the same time.

dylan nel is quite impressive & can certainly hold
that opening spot, he literally has nothing or a bar
that has been set high to fear, can bowl too which
is a huge plus for an opener.
malcom lake can fill sean williams shoes that no5
batsmen who can play @ a recquired run rate or hold
a collapsing innings with the ability to give 5 or so
useful overs to the team as a bowler
gary chirimuuta to me is more lyk a brian chari can really
come good at times as he is a solid batsman as well
mashinge is quite aggressive both as a bowler & batsman
might be hit by batsman but will certainly come
back with those bouncers & stare down batsmen has
some pace to him as well better than what we have
brad evans is one guy we cannot afford to lose few
allrounders certainly can balance being a succesful batsman &
& fastbowler as well taking wickets banging runs all
round certainly a 12th player in the team

add solomon mire, ryan burl, madziva, james bruce, jongwe & we have
a team that can compete & might suprise many teams
in the long run

not forgotting we have good young batsmen in murray, welch, byrom, cutis
who can really deliverif given right opportunities & a stable
board, plus the lost currans i dont think we have ever
been short of the players , its their will to play for zim
which is a hard thing in itself esp if you have options

So i was kind of thinking about this brand new team
and what it might look like "realistically" . If it would
be able to compete & bring better results like beating
the proteas & aus in a test series. Might be kind of
a stretch but from what we have now i think we can
build a team far better than what we have & zc's job
is to keep some of these youngsters happy. In the next
+3 years a team like this might perfom better

1: Chari - a solid batsman & youngster who can hold
that top spot but really needs to up his strike rate &
rotate strike more esp in limited overs, put the odd
boundary away & i think he will be & is a far better
option than hami & chamu
2: Burl - naturally talented youngster, if we make
sure he keeps getting better andgetting game time surely
he will beat taylors 8 centuries record. was by far ourbest batsman
in the india warmups & has a great career ahead of
him has that spot all to himself no doubt
3: Gary, Nel, Welch, Byrom - all 3 can fight for this spot
i would lean with dylan as he is very composed, fit, can bowl too
byrom might not come back, welch a lesser doubt too
gary is a good batsman but i think dylan is better was one
of the betterbatsman in that u19squad alongside burl
lake & a jongwe cameo at the world cup. Used to open
the bat as well
4: Mire, Moor - ( kallis role )a spot reserved for a batsman who can win us
the game, healthy strike rate, clear the boundary @ will
intimidate bowlers make sure they dont settle can reach
a target of 90 runs in 35 balls& a stable solid batsman
to top it off & i think mire is our best fit , can give a few
bowling overs & take wickets , energetic fielder
5: Lake - solid batsman who has a useful bowling arm.Opened
the batting for his uni side scored 89 took 3 wickets to win
the uni's challenge cup at lords a month or so ago, can play
a long innings, might need to up his strike rate more to
fit & surpasse this williams spot. Was captain of u19
so has some leadership skills and can read games
6: Gumbie,Murray - obviously the safest pair of hands
we have in the country , good batsman who cango big when
recquired to, can play a steady innings as well gumbie has
more experience than ryan & has the better edge over the other
but murray was termed to be the best thing next to b taylor
to come out of johns college, can bowl too very good offies
which is a huge plus can play a de villiers role keep
in limited overs but bat & bowl in test though
dislodging gumbie is no easy feat as he is quite a talented
keeper batsman
7: Evans, Mashinge,Dipaz, ( Jongwe) - an all rounder spot
like andre rusell, can open the bowling & close out as well, can be pushed up
the order to bat @ 4 or 5 to steady a sinking ship , can
hit big when recquired too. My choice would be evans as
he is the perfect all rounder we have will give you 10
overs anyway either opening or not & pick wickets,
amazing with the bat as well as he has been batting up the
the order for zim u16 or 18 can certainly giveyou a 5 for
& a 100 in one match, mashinge is talented too was
first drop bowler for u19 & did that job well & sometimes
came in to bowl as early as 5th over , talented with the bat
as well intimidates bowlers and bowlers has a rough polite play in there
dipaz no need for introductions just as talented also
but i think evans & mashinge are a bit more talented
both bowling & batting wise. jongwe would have been perfect
for the role too but indiscipline ruins him more of a bowler,
who can hold a bat than an all rounder so losses to evans &
mashinge but him & dipaz can certainly contest
8: Bruce - can hit a long ball can bowl as he opened
the bowling for rhinos & took2 wickets scored 60+ runs also
an all rounder to fit into that position well no contest for
him inthere i think
9: Mavuta,Bell - a leggie is a must for every team & these
are the youngsters we have, mavuta with a betteredge
over the other as he can bat too & has better control
of line& length
10: Mumba,Matigimu - talented speedsters with matigimu
the faster considering he was hitting 140 in bangladesh
outshone sam curran back then at st georges, tall & canhold
the bat for 30 or so runs has ability to go faster if
you look @ his runup & effortless motion. mumba also
a fast bowler a very good one but i think matigimu
has muchmore to improve on & become far better thanwhat he is now
push it to 150 maybe, mumba i have heard had problems
when told to bend his back more by brown as he can
certainly push it faster than what he is doing all 2 are
talented & can offer a lot than what our pretenders
chatara, panyangara are doing can share the new ball if undecided
11: ..... a spot reserved for what the pitch is doing
add a fast bowler or a spinner mufudza, welly , jongwe,
dipaz can hold this spot provide an extra ability to the team
or reserve it to open a space up for a batsman or another
all rounder just depends on what is weaker in our team or the strengths of our
opposition might be chosen in regards to game plan

With snyder, ives, charles, ngarava, huchu, keefe ,
mamhiyo competing for places i think we might just have enough in our
team to stand against the best
