u gotta be crazy sloan ! vitori dropped for jarvis ? vitori has done nothing to be deserved and has taken 11 wickets in 3 games and also gives us variety being left handed and swings the ball. jarvis maybe could make way for mpofu or someone but comeon mate vitori has done nothing wrong since coming to international level. i like the look of ewing in there but would rather waller simply because he can bowl a tad better , ewing seems to have lost his bowling side of the gamesloandog wrote:1. Re: ODI XI for Pakistan series
Is this for the ODI series or the test match ?
If it's the ODI series I'll probably swap Jarvis for vitori, but if it's the test match I'd have Utsea out and Mpofu in

Re: ODI XI for Pakistan series
You guys gut to be joking, i would put Vitori ahead of Price and Utseya even at Queens. Dropping Vitori will be the biggest joke that ZC has ever made worse than that short haircut policy.
Re: ODI XI for Pakistan series
l think the ideal team will be
1. Chakabva/Chibhabha
2. Sibanda
3. Masakadza
4. Taylor
5. Ervine
6. Taibu
7. Waller
8. Utseya
9. Price
10. Vitori
11. Mpofu
Considering the dismall batting perfomance by Zim at Queens, l would go with an extra batsman and 2 part time bowlers i.e Waller and Masakadza. We have seen before that a score close to 300 are chasable at queens provided the batman apply themselves and are bit aggresive.lf you remember the match Zimbabwe vs Bangla which Coventry scored 192* Bangla beat us. l think Chibhabha will explore in the 1st overs before the spiners come. something like 60/1 after 10 overss will be a platform for a strong middle order. or alternatively go with Chakabva, im sure if you want him to survive and bat till over 13 he can do that job with a better strike rate than Mawoyo. Matches at Queens are detemined by how many runs a team can accumulate in the powerplay. e.g 60 runs for the 1st power play,30 - 35 for the 2nd power play and push for 50 in the bating power play. the team will have got 140-145 in 20 overs of power play. meaning the other 30 overs if they can score 120+ then we know for certain zim will post a score of 260+ which is compatative. Whats your thoughts?

Lamb is injured if im not mistaken. Bt obvious if he was avaliable l would pick him. If the 1st match doesnt go according to plan or if Waller fails l will put ChigumburaJemisi wrote:If you are playing an extra batsman and trying to rely on part time bowlers, why not Lamb over Waller. His spinis more worthy. Not that I would go in that direction.

Re: ODI XI for Pakistan series
One of the batters batting in the top 3 should be someone who can bat for long periods of time and can score hundreds, so dropping Taylor to number 4 doesn't make sense to me. Out of all our batsmen BT is the only one imo who can batthrough the innings and dropping him to 4 won't give him a chance to do that. The way Vusi is going, I'd keep him up there to play the agressive role upfront while Taylor tries to just bat through the innings.
Vusi, Mawoyo, H.Masakadza, Taylor, Ervine, Williams, Mutumbami, S.Masakadza, Meth, Price, Jarvis

Re: ODI XI for Pakistan series
Yeah, agreed. Taylor is a proven ODI opener. Looking back over the last 5 years the only two successful opening partnerships have been Taylor and Sibanda (roughly 07-09, 11-present) and Taylor and Masakadza (09-11). Masakadza looks pretty good at number three (and I think it is ideal to have the same number three in Tests and ODIs, like Ponting for Australia) so why change what looks like a top order which will serve Zimbabwe well for years to come?takleg wrote:One of the batters batting in the top 3 should be someone who can bat for long periods of time and can score hundreds, so dropping Taylor to number 4 doesn't make sense to me.
