Nyauchi averages 61?
Jeez that's not inspiring.

Side note: let's keep the match day thread title duties to SZ, his format is pretty neat
more like the designated shiner of the ball

Houghton hinted that it would be pace bowler Luke Jongwe who would most likely make way for the returning Williams.

Evans batting at number 9 and ngarava who can hold a bat inspires some confidence. Muyonga needs to be the finisher and williams comes in at 4 raza 5 and chakhabva 6. Bat muyonga at 8.Marshmallow wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:18 amHoughton hinted that it would be pace bowler Luke Jongwe who would most likely make way for the returning Williams.
Impressed by Marumani on sunday. Not easy to hit 45 against a team like australia when youve been in and out of side. Hope he plays all 3 ODI. Could be the making of him this series

Nyauchi`s a better bowler than his average. Should certainly be Jongwe. Guy bats with no brrain and barely bowls

A guy that has a go across the line on a whim like that and has a good enough eye to be a threat they will make a plan for. Let's see what they present to him tomorrow.Donald wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:47 amEvans batting at number 9 and ngarava who can hold a bat inspires some confidence. Evans is a better bowler than Jongwe, and a better batter. No-brainer. Nyauchi has actually been the best Zim seamer over the last several matches. Again a no brainer.Googly wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 7:26 amI agree, Jongwe is the one under pressure for his spot if the pitch is going to turn. Evans has thrown a cat amongst the pigeons for the selectors.
Nyauchi is more threatening with the ball than Jongwe and Evans is definitely going to be a better bat, if he isn't already.
Once again they need to give Evans the new ball to see if he can get some swing and seam. There's nothing to lose, we're on a hiding to nothing anyway. Even if they gave him 3 overs only.
I'm really looking to see how Madhevere and Marumani do. They don't have to hit hundreds or fifties in every innings...but they need to show some degree of consistency and a coherent plan. They've gotten a start in the series, do they keep building on it, or do they throw it away?
Raza's failure is simply the law of averages. His form was surreal the past month...3 hundreds in 6 games is unbelievable even for a legend. Kohli, the king of hundreds has 40 from 300 odd games.

Everyone is mentioning Nyauchi, Jongwe and Evans but what about Ngarava? What has he done for us recently?
He averages 45 with the ball in ODI cricket after 25 matches, which is worse bowling stats than Tiripano (40.4).
He was poor against Bangladesh, poor against India. He had a few good overs in game 1 but he doesn’t look like taking a wicket which is not good for a pacer.
Nyauchi may be erratic at times but always looks capable of taking wickets, same with Jongwe and Evans got a 5fer so he is capable of taking wickets.
I would actually drop him if we consider dropping a pacer and give Evans the new ball.

Yeah good point, Ngarava has underwhelmed for sure. But I think he's worth persevering with though because he offers some pace, height, left-arm. Jongwe has shown he can be very good at the death (although thats more relevant for T20's) and Evans we are still learning about.
Nyauchi whilst decent enough doesn't offer much that is interesting or unique or threatening. He's mostly a very standard seamer.

Ngarava needs a good bowling coach behind him. He has all the attributes ( Tall/Pace/Bounce) to be a good good player. Needs to swing it both ways then he be lethal
He is something to work with
