Ya,ICL could have contacted with the 'Rebel' players of Zimbabwe and could have made a ICL ZIM team. But if they did so,that means the players playing there have ended their international career. As it didnt happen,so there is a chance for all the rebels for a return.Though I heard that there is talkings going over giving approval to ICL by ICC.There is a meeting going to be held in Sydney probably and ICL will be a subject there.Pakistan really wanted to get their ICL players back in the team.It will be good for Bangladesh also if ICL is given approval.I think,it will be good for you too,Streaky Crimson as Heath Streak is also in the ICLCrimsonAvenger wrote:Yes indeed, if cricketing talent alone was the yardstick, ICL or IPL would have looked at Zim players. But all they have in mind is generating revenue. There was assured huge fan following in Bangladesh, and nothing like that in Zimbabwe. So, that says it all. If the ICL really wanted to go global, they could have easily managed to form an ICL Zim team by contacting the 'rebels'.
Anyway, ICL Dhaka did a great job, which added to the popularity of ICL.

Re: Interview of Raymond Price
Well not just Streaky, among the rebels, I was a big fan of Blignaut, Ervine, Friend and Rogers as well. It would be dream come true if they ever come back.Detective RDS wrote:I think,it will be good for you too,Streaky Crimson as Heath Streak is also in the ICL.I think, you will want to see Streak playing for Zimbabwe again.
The point I tried making there was that money-minded BCCI and Zee never thought that there were decent players in countries like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe too. Only when they saw an opportunity to mint money by attracting Bangladeshi viewership did Zee went to form a Bangladeshi team.
Coming back to the Ray Price interview, looks like on hindsight, he might have probably regretted the decision to have walked out of the contract in 2004 along with the other rebels. This feeling is probably resonated by many other rebels too, as Streak admitted in 2006 in "Extra Time with Rob Bonnet" on BBC that 'they probably could have explored other options, not that there were many'. Even Andy Flower has gone on record saying that their black armband move in WC 2003 could have been negotiated in a different way, but was quick to point out that it might not have been as effective.
But i just fear with more conviction now than ever before, after witnessing today's dismal batting display, that the rebel walkout might really have meant a death knell for Zimbabwean Cricket. I would be very happy if I am proved wrong in future.

Re: Interview of Raymond Price
So it was you then Rayzer, i actually thought it was a rubbishy article so i might delete it
I was actually there to see the last appearance of Ray in England. It could have been a bit of a Zimbabwean show but sadly Murray Goodwin was absent in Australia due to a bereavement, Graeme Hick was pretty much out of touch and went lbw to Mushtaq in both innings, in the 2nd he was most un-Hick like and just slogged at Mushtaq, and Ray went wicketless.
I can't say i was too upset about the outcome as this win gave us our 3rd Championship title

It's a great shame that in such a short space of time since this game was played, this season will see no Graeme Hick, Ray Price, Mushtaq Ahmed or Chris Adams in action.

Hi Alex, i must congratulate you on your great article on Ray but more than that i cherished your other article on cricket web-Rayzer wrote:It's alright I suppose- I wrote it!

It's a strange co-incidence that you joined this great forum on the same day (18th Oct) which you elaborated so nicely & also i created a similar thread-Zim's greatest hour, on the very same day.
It's a small little sweet world

Indeed, a gem of an article.
And the Detective RDS' effect, it looks as though, is spreading to everyone. What say, Dr. Situ?
