It doens't matter too much where we discuss this but it's a bit of a shame this was not left alone. I don't feel the desire to knit-pick at the negatives of a very good bat but unfortunately, Taylor has a high score of 10 vs PK in two innings (remember Tino's score in that match?). I think he had a high score of 9 in two innings in NZ - (Waller, a relative newbie, showed more fight)...and he was coming in at 4/5 when in fact Vusi (and Tino) had done what Zim openers so often don't - seen off the new ball. Vusi - at #1 - showed consistency against all threee teams. Yes, he got out, we have to expect that, but he scored some runs against all three teams, at the top and by and large did his job!takleg wrote:After taking a look at the the thread on Al Campbell, I noticed a few posts were heading towards the the title of this thread, so I decided to bump it.
Brendan Taylor for me is by far our best batter. The stats say so and all this talk about Vusi being our best batter is utter rubbish. Forget the poor footwork and ugly technique, what matters is getting the runs and when it comes to getting runs there is only one guy who's done that consistently for us over the years and his name is Brendan Taylor

to be brutally honest if you answer this question with anyone other than Brendan Taylor,
then either;
a- you have misread the question
b- your having a laugh or arent being serious
c- your not a real
c- your plain dumb

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's called personal opinion! One that we are all entiled to queston and argue against but by no means write off!ZIMDOGGY wrote:to be brutally honest if you answer this question with anyone other than Brendan Taylor: c- your plain dumb
What counts for me is how we've responded since our Test return. The only time Vusi struggled was in the limited formats against NZ, and that was following the loss of his mother, compounded by limited preparation and a premature return.Very few neutrals, if any, can witness Vusi and Taylor on song in a stand together and conclude that Taylor is a better batsmen! Younis Khan, lead batsman of the annihilators of the pretenders to the #1Test throne, is quoted here by Firdose:
Ask yourself, what does that say of Taylor who is over 2 years younger than Vusi? The way I see it, Cook is the most productive English batsmen, but KP is their best, Taylor is the most productive batsmen for Zim, but Vusi is the best! At least KP doesn't object to opening in ODIs, and doesn't drop himself lower down the order when the going gets tough aginst Bangladesh - which is exactly what he did in the following NZ Series. Still it was a struggling Hami who was sacrificed when Chibhabha was dropped, not Taylor who had recently opened against Bangladesh in an ODI series. Remember - disappearing when the bowling gets too difficult to take on - not the makings of the best batsman of the team who should back himself if you ask me! Just sit back and watch how high and beyond Taylor, Vusi's average will soar by the time he's played 14 Tests.Vusi Sibanda, despite his tendency to get out playing the pull shot, is an example of this aggression. Sibanda has a fearless attitude in the time he spends at the crease. He is as sublime a driver of the ball as he is a puller and he showed improved shot selection as the series went on. Sibanda is a naturally attacking batsman and so, unlike some of his counterparts, he does not disappear into a shell when the bowling looks too difficult to take on. Younis Khan, Pakistan's man of the ODI series, singled out Sibanda and said that, "he performed in every game, even though he did not make a big ton, but in future he will be their star."

When the Dogg wrote that, immediately I put my house, well townhouse, on Hhm coming along and disagreeing. Unfortunately the odds were predictably very short, so we aren't rich.

and i would've bet everything i had that your comment would get support. i guess i would have had to spread the bet over 3/4 people though!Jemisi wrote:When the Dogg wrote that, immediately I put my house, well townhouse, on Hhm coming along and disagreeing. turning the "rule of three" into a "rule of 4" is not a disguise for outdated persuasive techniques (though the principle is quite firmly fixed ... not getting past "c"

- misread the question? The question is there to interpret at will ... i chose tests where unfrutnately Taylor comes in lower ["you put your best bats in at 1 & 2" - not my quote ] and did awfully vs PK and NZ away.
b- your having a laugh or arent being serious? ... I always have a little chuckle at your posts Dawg ... but this one is not a matter of opinion 9i have presented the facts)
c- your not a real? ... We are merely 1s and Zeros here (mostly Zeros i fear)
c- your plain dumb? maybe, but not so dumb as to allow your rule of three to persuade me in any way at all.

Re: Who is the best batsman in the zimbabwe team?
just kidding hes useless , its definately taylor by a long shot theres no one else in the team close to his class and consistency. next in line will have to be taibu , if vusi was available he would be my 2nd followed by taibu. wonder how head up is own ass williams would go these days ?

"Cook is their most productive batsman, but KP is their best"
"Taylor is our most productive batsman, but vusi is our best"
----
what about
"Dan Carter is the most productive All Black, but Sonny Bill Williams is stronger and faster and is thereore the best"
I think HHM is getting potential reality mixed up.
Vusi COULD be better but as of today he isnt, never in the past, perhaps in the future?
