I was also reading about the keeper batsman having been in India for two years? Is that correct?

Chigumbura’s son was at that academy in India for over twelve months yes. Some of the others have been back and forth too.

Not sure who’s paid for that.

Very interesting to know how these selections are made to attend OMTEX cricket institute in India and who is actually bank roling these Indian training programs. Setting up such centres locally and getting the right coaches could benefit a lot more kids with Zimbabwe being a test playing nation and all.

A few updates on there, from games in recent weeks.
Plus a small Churchill report.

We have committed to a further scholarship in 2026 and hoping that Churchill will be able to host cricket matches by then…..

The Rockingham boys will be coming back to Chitungwiza in October or November. If anyone can help with kit, please let me know….
Open invite to the CJPL final (date TBC), which will be held at St Aidans.

Cheers

Andy Tabvura (Rockingham scholarship boy) took 5/26 on his senior debut today, in the Vigne cup.

He is still Form One at Churchill.
A great prospect…..

Great work.

Looks like Sean Makaniso is the next off the production line.

Was great seeing them beat St John's the other day.

In 10 years time, you'll have a dozen players in FC cricket!

Thank you
Sean is a diamond.
He isn’t in contention for scholarship award this time, as he still has another year to complete at St Aidans….
But he’s certainly on the radar of several schools

We awarded Sean Makaniso with a bat, as MVP for the Chitungwiza Junior Premier League, that has been running since February
He is indeed just 10 (grade 5) and has 2 more years at St Aidans

Albert Manungo was leading batsman for the CJPL (averaging 70, over ten innings)
He belongs to Chinembiri who are a relatively new cricketing school (after we put a frame and net in there a couple of years ago)

And Nigel Bonyongwa was the winner of our Rockingham CCC scholarship award

Please see the stories, from our visit, over the last couple of weeks
