1-1 is a result most of us would have taken before the series began. A test victory anywhere is very rare for Zimbabwe. That being said, the capitulation in the second test is rather disappointing.
Agreed.
A win away against Bangladesh is a very good result. Unexpected to boot.
The loss in the second match was instead "expected" maybe not that huge, but a sweep in a Test series in Bangladesh would have been defined crazy by any bookmaker!
That was depressing. Those spinners were unbelievable, who are they playing next at home? I will pay close attention to how the batters cope. I'm hoping everyone struggles against them.
I'm a firm believer in how Root deals with spin. He stays a bit leg side, steps back and plays French cricket, keeps LBW largely out of play. It works for him and looks like you can learn that skill. Bowlers get frustrated and pitch it up slightly and then he makes runs. Not quite that simple but that's the gist of it. It's lower risk than learning how to be class sweeper.
The alarming thing is how they threatened with so many deliveries. Vinnie had a good spell where he had a similar effect, but we just bowl so many arbitrary deliveries that either don't threaten or they go for runs.
There's no room for continued excuses, guys have to improve rapidly.
