Re: Phantom Draft
So, The Last Rhodesian does not team up with The First Zimbabwean after all. Do you have a backroom role for Dabengwa, zimfan1?

Re: Phantom Draft
So, we have thought long and hard about our last pick, and we would go by our heart for this one. We liked what we saw in a couple of glimpses of this young man this season, some spunk at the top of the order. May be he will build on it over the coming season. It will also give us a chance to unite a family as we have done with the Masakadzas (well, at least 2 out of 3). We welcome to Mutare as our final pick, Tendai "Power" Maruma - to power our top order in the limited over matches in particular.
Re: Phantom Draft
The Eagles board knew that our last pick was going to come down to a few players. It was for this very reason that we left this pick till the very end. After a beautifully structured budget plan, we understand our decision making. We were torn as to who would be the best choice for our squad. In the end we have decided the C Mpofu will add much needed experience to the bowling line up and provide us with a second strike bowler to partner Panyangara.
This decision still leaves the Eagles board with money from the draft, which will be added to an already created sub account for use to develop an academy. This academy with feature young players and players of considerable talent who missed out in the draft with the view that they can push themselves in to contract spots for one of the provinces or perhaps forge a career playing for a county side in the UK, provinces in SA, or state sides in AUS.

Great idea! I think everybody has only 500 $ left, so we probably should pitch together for a Franchise Academy independent of any ZC mingling.zimbos_05 wrote:This decision still leaves the Eagles board with money from the draft, which will be added to an already created sub account for use to develop an academy. Re: Phantom Draft
I hope we haven't seen the last of Bobby Mpofu -- he's only 28. Does anyone know if he's seriously injured or what's the issue with him?
Re: Phantom Draft
Yes. The new Australian owners of the Eagles are building a private academy. One that has no ties to ZC or will allow any member who sits on the current ZC board, to have any doing towards the academy.foreignfield wrote:Great idea! Question, is a there a rule about trading a player who you drafted for a non drafted player after the draft is over if you decide you need to?

Re: Phantom Draft
I've only given a bit of thought so far to how the trade period will work, but I'm thinking at some time (yet to be determined) franchises will have the chance to trade players and future draft picks.zimbos_05 wrote:Yes.
