Ya hopefully he perseveres. I've seen enough even from a few streams this season and from speaking to people, that he has the potential. Hopefully he keeps working hard and gives it one more shot next season.Googly wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 4:09 pm
Well then someone is deliberately putting the brakes on his cricket career. Who might that be? I reckon he has to persevere for another season and just be as good as he can be and hope for a change in selectors. OR....
What we really need is more international cricket so they can keep experimenting with guys who will not be up to scratch and then eventually we can be completely out of options. Give each guy who isn't going to make it 6 games to prove what we already know and then maybe some unprejudiced selections can happen.
The problem is people have short memories. I see that after Cephas' great innings there's talk that he should play some more T20 for us. With respect to the guy he's not international spec. That would just be more musical chairs.
I'm not sure there's a learning curve here. The only thing that causes a bit of anxiety is a world record against us, an absolute thrashing seems to be in order.

Raza's innings was sensational btw from the parts I saw. Brought his century up with a six of course. Hope we get another couple of years out of him. Ngarava, Wellington and Mashinge (lol) all bowled some decent stuff as well, so he didn't have it easy.

I just waded my way thru a lot of that livestream fast forwarding to most deliveries.
Ya Raza played well, he was pretty loose early on. Some absolutely woeful batting from the others.
I hope Marumani is OK, to go off for a shot in the box generally means some damage. I see Madhevere also took a painful shot that caused a delay. Beats me why they haven't designed better guards. If I had loot I'd get one designed that took the risk right out of it. Still not sure why everyone finds it amusing.
I think it was Ross Taylor that had a testicle removed after being hit in the nuts in the nets at Sports Club.
And a helmet with a cooling fan and a small solar panel.

To be honest Cephas is not full member quality but he could finish an associate team in 4 overs. Small team/bad bowling bully. Marumani too. Some of our better players will over think it and fumble just like 2018. I will always stand by this opinion. Cephas on his day will win you a game. He actually decided the Logan Cup if you look at it carefully. T20 cricket needs players who can clear the ropes.

^ Yes but he's like 38 or something and he's literally semi-retired only on a part-time playing contract lol
Marumani is the new Zhuwao, and I think he has the potential to be much better than him, in time. We just have to be a bit patient with him though.

A bit more. He needs to go through a couple of lineups.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 12:04 pmPeople saying Evans needs to do more to knock the door down.
He's just finished the Logan Cup campaign with a bowling average of 15 - that's the best bowling average of any full-time bowler in the entire competition: https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engin ... tournament
And he never gets the new ball. And he was recovering from a broken ankle.
Averaged 30+ with the bat too, batting as low as 6 and 7.
What more does he need?!
12@15 is good.
He needs numbers like Nyauchi next to him on that list.

Zimbabwe should have arranged domestic T20s and prepare for T20 qualifiers instead of playing 4 day cricket, the format in which Zimbabwe has no future at present moment. They are doing huge mistake in taking qualifiers opponents lightly

Why no chance to Peter Anthony Moor, Derek Bell, James Bruce, Michael Lake, Richard Muzhazunga. Zim needs 145 kph pacer for that they needs Kevin Bowie, Matzigamu, Odendaal in the Playing XI
Chris Dollar is good hitter he should be in the scheme of things

Joining in on the Evans discussion here is my take:
He was great before his injury but since he has come back he hasn’t gone all in for obvious reasons, he shortened his run up and lost a bit of pace.
His season stats may look great but that doesn’t paint the full picture. I still don’t think he is fully fit so why risk him for these games that don’t mean anything, no cup to win and no national games planned for a little while.
Wait till he is fully fit then get him involved.
That being said I would have still loved to see him here, sometimes game time can help you get back to fitness.
There must be reasoning behind the decision that’s all I can say.

So southerns weak batting lineup has been skittled for 102
Only 3 batsmen out of the 22 players have hit more than 20 runs, that is a real concern. Raza in a world of his own with that 130 odd.
They could probably play 2 matches with these 5 days
