Marumani's non selection in any of the T20's was interesting. Someone there doesn't rate him or he's pissed on someone l's battery, yet he keeps making the squad.
Its hard to find a spot in this side as a newbie unless you're significantly better than the others.

Last time I saw Tari I was very impressed, hard to believe that he's regressed that much that he's unsalvageable.
He used to play waaay too many shots. If he sticks to his best areas, puts away the pull (I recall that being an issue), he should be ok. I'd be really keen to see him play again.

Tari is a highly talented player. He's a carbon copy of Wes, and everyone here agrees that Wes has a relatively high talent ceiling. Granted Wes is still very young, whereas Tari is probably pushing 30. I think its not a bad move to give him one final chance before discarding him into the waste bin for good. Some players don't do well domestically, but can still hold their own at the highest level.

I think Tari at this point is more likely to score 20 runs than Marumani. Marumani's youth gives him whatever advantage he has in that selection battle.
'Dont do well domestically, but can still hold their own at the highest level'. Well, Tari has played 36 international innings and only scored above 43 once. By comparison Wes has played 55 innings and has ten half centuries and a bunch of scores in the 40's. The comparison isn't even close. Musakanda hasn't done anything for years, at any level. You want to ignore domestic cricket but he averaged 12 in our latest 50-over competition. Is he really going to score runs and win matches for us against Bangladesh, when he cant even score runs against the likes of Steve Chimhamhiwa and Tinashe Muchawaya?

Wes has been hit and miss and whether he goes on to become truly great or not is certainly up for debate, but I don't think you can compare Musakanda to him.

Also my main issue with the selection is that the guy is going through the courts and potentially looking at a prison sentence. Is it really appropriate for him to be parachuted into the squad with all that is going on?

However, I am willing to yield for Dave. It will be interesting to see how Tari goes at least and if he does miraculously do well then great, another option for us going forward.

in Dave we trust.
All hail Dave!

Those are all fair points, SZ. But I've always been one to err on the side of talent. I've been wrong plenty of times (for example, when I first saw Shakib, I thought he'd be an ordinary cricketer due to his lack of technique). Its also why I am still gung ho on Najmul Hossain Shanto, despite the fact that he averages just 26 in Tests, and about 15 or less in both ODIs and T20Is. Yes, you read that correctly: FIFTEEN.

I hope this time tomorrow I’m sitting here looking like an idiot after Tari has scored a match winning century and #MusakandaMania has returned

Even with a full strength ZIM side, it would take a near miracle to avoid a 3-0 BanglaWash here :D

Chakabva and Ervine a bit nervous of Marumani taking their spots perhaps?

How did Masara go by the way the other day. Didnt want to watch the first 10 overs or so

Jongwe came back in similar fashion. Maybe not as bad as this but he wasn't dominating domestically. He just has that composure needed at international level. Hopefully it's the same with Tari.

Kaitano and innocent isn't bad either, as long as there is no spin early on.

I also like this concept of anybody pitching up and playing. I'm pretty sure the Bangladesh video analyst was caught completely off guard on Tuesday by Masara and Evans

Hey I’m in the U.K. now - is ICC.tv showing the games here? Want to make sure before I pay $2!
