Yeah, I think I massively underestimated the stupidity and corruptive nature of ZC for a moment there...

LAHORE - The visiting Zimbabwe cricket team will play three One-day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 internationals here in the city.
According to reliable sources, the ODIs will be played on May 23, 25 and 27 while the T20s will be held on May 29 and 30 while all the matches will be staged here at the Gaddafi Stadium. “The visiting team will stay at National Cricket Academy (NCA) which is adjacent to the Gaddafi Stadium. It will be easy for the board to move the Zimbabwean team from NCA to the stadium and then to the NCA under foolproof security,” the sources added.
After March 2009 Sri Lankan attacks, the doors of international cricket was closed on Pakistan and it was for the first time after those attacks that any Test playing nation has been visiting the country. Earlier, Afghanistan and Kenya cricket teams have visited the country and played cricket here.
The sources disclosed: “For such a big moment and event for Pakistan cricket, it is heard that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif will be invited for the opening match of the Pakistan-Zimbabwe international cricket series. In case, the PM doesn’t come at the opening match, Punjab chief minister Mian Shahbaz will then grace the first match as chief guest.”
“It is also likely, either the PM reach the Gaddafi Stadium during any match to encourage the national cricketers or he may grace the concluding ceremony as chief guest,” the sources concluded.

Well this tour is going to be a right barrel of laughs. Under armed guard for fortnight and stuck in the national cricket academy to boot. I hope the boys actually get paid on time for this tour.

A source in the Pakistan Cricket Board told that the ZCU has put forth two conditions. First, a return tour to Zimbabwe in August and second, it should be given 50 per cent of the revenues earned from the series in Pakistan.

"These two conditions, plus the arrival of a security delegation from Zimbabwe are the reasons for the tour not being finalised as yet," the source disclosed.

The source said that the ZCU chief executive, in recent meetings with the PCB officials in Dubai on the sidelines of the ICC meetings, had made it clear that while the Zimbabwe Board was keen to send its team to Pakistan in May, it needed financial incentives to revive its cricket.

"The ZCU has made it clear it needs financial support and should be given 50 per cent share of the revenues and that Pakistan confirm that it will tour Zimbabwe for same number of matches in August this year," he said.

The source said the tour was also subject to clearance from the ZCU security delegation, which will be touring the country son.

"The PCB wants the Zimbabwe team to play two ODIs and a T20 International in Lahore at the Gaddafi stadium and one ODI and one T20 at the national stadium in Karachi," the source said.

He said the PCB had dropped the idea of holding matches at a private ground in Karachi, known as Southend club in Defence society.

"The PCB is reviewing the arrangements and facilities at Southend club for future matches but if Zimbabwe agrees, the matches against them will be held in Karachi at the NSK. To hold matches at the Southend, first we need to get approval from the ICC to award it international status," the source said.

He said that the ZCU so far was not keen on playing in Karachi and wanted the PCB to hold all five matches in Lahore.

"They are comfortable with the idea of playing matches at the PCB headquarters and staying at the national cricket academy adjacent to the Gaddafi stadium for security reasons," the source said.

If Zimbabwe confirms the tour, it would be the first Test playing nation to tour Pakistan since 2009.

The source said the PCB is already planning to hold its national T20 super eights tournament from around May 12 as it is anticipating the Zimbabwe tour to start not before May 20.

He said the PCB had so far not approached the ICC to appoint match officials for the series because the security plan is yet to be sent to them for approval.

New twist to Pakistan tour

THE Zimbabwe cricket team’s scheduled tour of Pakistan next month could result in a reciprocal tour by the subcontinent nation in August as Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) pulls all the stops to ensure a busy international calender for the Dav Whatmore-coached side.

BY DANIEL NHAKANISO

ZC managing director Alistair Campbell said while they had already signed and sealed deals for two inbound tours from India and New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland were also being mooted to fill the gaps in their schedule.

“At the moment I can confirm that India and New Zealand are coming as part of the Future Tour Programme bilaterally signed by the respective boards. What is just left is to agree the exact dates of the matches but India will be coming during the first half of July while the New Zealand tour will take place between July 28 and August 10.

“We are in discussions with Pakistan for a potential reciprocal tour possibly in August or September to fill the gap in our schedule before touring Bangladesh possibly in November and December. We are also talking to Ireland but I cannot confirm anything yet as discussions are still ongoing,” said Campbell.

Zimbabwe looks set to become the first Test playing nation to tour Pakistan in six years with a local security team set to visit the subcontinent nation to assess the situation before the final itinerary is announced.

Pakistan has been forced to play designated “home” matches in the United Arab Emirates since March 2009 following an attack by militants on a Sri Lanka team bus in Lahore.

Meanwhile, according to reports from Pakistan the planned home series against Zimbabwe next month could turn out to be a one-venue affair.

A Pakistan publication, The News, yesterday reported that ZC have been reluctant about playing in Karachi and want all five games of the series to take place in Lahore.

“The Board wants the series to be played at two venues because it wants to send out a clear message to the rest of the cricketing world that Pakistani venues are safe for international matches,” Pakistan Cricket Board source told The News.

“That’s why it wants the series to be played in two cities instead of just in Lahore,” he added.
