Losing Chatara will probably be the difference between a loss and a draw here I think.
When do we go defensive? I think now. We need them to bat as long as possible now. The moment is gone. We will not be able to bat more than 120 overs I think. That would be at our very best. Bowling them out doesnt matter anymore

How many great fast bowlers have toured Bangladesh. ? Top teams take Bangladesh tour in blooding young fast bowlers resting their best bowlers. Steyn toured once that also rain effected series, no chance of performing.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 4:11 amNot on our pitches. Guys like Dale Steyn haven't gotten bagfuls of wickets.Black Mamba wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 4:07 amSeeing Bangladesh batting against Pace its getting cleared Windies going to shoot them in the upcomming test series. Attack of Roach, Gabriel, Holder and the new sensational Oshane Thomas who hardly bowl less then 142 kph. will trouble Bangladesh
Sylhet and this Mirpur pitch weren't typical BD conditions.
Windies Pacers will trouble Bangladesh both with the new and old bowl

Well they’re controlling the game, whether we take wickets now or not is largely irrelevant in the scheme of things. It would be nice to be looking at a target of less than 400 though, whether we get them out or they declare before that total doesn’t matter. I’d say they will declare either side of tea because they want to give themselves at least 140 overs.
When we bat there’s no point in just shutting up shop from the get go, if it’s there hit the sucker. Can we last 140 overs? Unlikely but you have to believe.

In the long run I still think test cricket is our best format. Simply because of the number of options not playing. You have 4 other options in terms of Batsmen who arent even playing right now (Burl,Ervine,Mawoyo,Mutizwa). 3 genuine strike bowling options (Cremer,Chatara,Jarvis). I wont count Murray and Blessing because they are not available. Mumba waiting in the ranks too.
What we are missing is a batting allrounder who bowls pace. This coming logan cup will be interesting. I think we need to groom either Jongwe or Mashinge for that role. Maybe Mire but not as an opener in first class cricket.

Jongwe, Mashinge & Faraz Akram......If Madhevere plays the season and delivers. Zimbabwe will be getting Hafeez effect someone who opens and bowls off spin and take wickets.TapsC wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:49 amIn the long run I still think test cricket is our best format. They will declare at tea break..
Can we survive the last session without losing more than 1 wicket, then it would make the last day very very interesting..

Just read through the last 20 pages here, a lot of junk being posted but im happy to see AndyBliggz back
I will comment though about Hamilton taking off Tiripano for Williams, the reason was so we could always have 1 seamer bowling at one end to avoid the train wreck in the first innings where we had 2 spinners going for 5 an over which is where we let the game slip away. Everyone is quick to lay the boo into poor old Hamilton but I can see what he was trying to do.
The Chatara injury really hurt us, it's hard to judge exactly how many runs it's cost us but I'd say over 100 easy.
Zimbabwe have been unlucky with injuries in Test matches against Bangladesh, in the 2nd test in 2013 which was won by Bangladesh Meth got injured and couldn't bowl in the 2nd dig, also effected his batting.

Yeah I think you're right
I can't see us batting out a session without losing a wicket, I can't remember Zimbabwe doing that for a while

Steyn and Morkel have toured. Pat Cummins. Trent Boult. Thats in recent times. Cummins was the most successful of the lot due to his pace and accuracy.Black Mamba wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:42 am

I’d be interested to see how Luke is looking these days. Talented batter, but too loose. Willy M has probably overtaken him in the batting dept. He’s ok, determined nice kid. Can either make the step up to international cricket? I have my doubts.
I see they’ve lost faith in Ervine, partly due to his role in that Afghan game. Whether they’ve lost faith or he’s serving penance I can’t answer, but it’s ridiculous. He’s a good player, as is Burl who just keeps getting dicked around, he must be at the end of his tether. I don’t see him sticking around for much longer if he doesn’t get games. Will he hang around long enough for a few guys to retire or die of old age? Why would they fly him to Bangladesh and then not give him a game? He’s a better batsman than Brian and Reggie. He’s the guy that needs an extended run to get in his feet.
I see Makoni and Mukhulani are in Bangladesh, I wonder if they’ve got an entourage? That’s at least 3 wasted airfares, hotel and expenses right there. $30k maybe they’ve pissed into the wind.
