Campbell not bowling until the 43rd over is an odd one.

Shumba ticking so many boxes in his young career so far. Carrying his team home on a last day finish in a slightly tricky chase. These will be invaluable experiences he is gaining in the larger scheme of things - irrespective of the opposition quality and the runs scored.

Yeah he has ticker.

I think there’s a real chance he ends up Zimbabwe’s greatest ever black batsman to date in 10years time.

I would have said the same a month ago. But his Uni decision has ruined that.

He’ll end up like Hamilton, if he even comes back at all. Good but not world class. It’s sad. And stupid.

I watched an hour of the stream before tea, with Ervine and Makoni batting really well together. There was a lot of chat out in the middle - lots of niggle and stares. A few Rhinos tempers starting to show. It’s really refreshing to see players caring about the Logan. Makes a nice change.

I was wondering about the standard of pitches the LC has been played on thus far. I ask as in 6 matches to date there have been 7 centuries including 5 career best in those (Madhevere, Kaitano, Mutumbami, Maunze & Makoni) plus 5 scores 90+. Also, from cricketarchive.com's stats, I see the spinners, Wellington Masakadza, Mavuta, Ndlovu & Mufudza have bowled a lot of overs already.
To me, this means the pitches are better & making the spinners work harder for wickets. Which is good as spinners, & all bowlers generally, have to actually plan & think batsmen out as opposed to just get on a length & wait for the mistake. I'm sure this is a common complaint regarding the lack of development of the spinners. There are of course, other factors to the lack of development.
For example, Wellingtom Masakadza has already bowled 517 balls in 2 matches this season. This is his 9th domestic season. In 4 other seasons has he bowled more deliveries. So, yes, in the other 4 seasons, he may have been injured, dropped, A team duties, international call up or whatever. But this year, potentially, is going to be his hardest working season. The match just completed saw him take 10 wickets in a match for the first time & his first 5 for since 2017/18.
The increased work load also applies to the other spinners. I acknowledge that Ndlovu had Nyumbu as a spinning partner. I excluded Chisoro as he always seems to generate a healthy work load each season since turning to spin.
Also, Mumba, Mavuta & Welly ( in his 9th season) passed 100 LC wickets. Mutombodzi & Chatara have passed 150 LC wickets.
Maunze & Mayavo have passed 2000 LC runs & Kaitano, during his maiden ton, passed 1000 LC runs.
Apologies to any player that has passed a milestone I missed.
