Re: [Match Thread] South Africa V Zimbabwe – 1st ODI
solid batting from taibu and SM...if only the top order batted a bit more sensibly and scored 50-75 more runs for their wickets.
but its good for these guys to show some fight and continue it the next game. good thing SA doesn't have any class spinner!

Some ferocious hitting here to save face, and what we can take away from this game, is a lot of confidence, and 3 sterling individual performances.

Fabulos batting by 188 pair. It was a treat to watch rather read their deeds from 40's to the end. Neck to neck competition by two little talisman's. I was so engroseed that couldnt take time to post here till Tibbly reached his 2nd ton against Proteas. I just hope Boucher/smith will b ashamed of their sledging they made against Taibu in a test(that shameful video is on u-tube).
Great fightback Zimbos

great rebuilding effort from that pair. hats off to them.
congrats to taibu for a wonderful century!
i hope they keep up the good work and the top order can score more runs...this game could have perhaps gone ZIM's way if the top order fired decently.

Hey Guys missed to days game but nice to see the we were compeitive with the ball and and that Taibu and Matsikenyeri got us out of a little hole with the bat.
Like to see jarvis being given a go in the next game on a pitch with a bit of pace on it.

Even though we lost, I am relatively happy with the performance of the team. Two consecutive games with a Zimbabwean scoring a century is a nice change. We really need to get our top order into some form however.
Maybe for the next match bring in Jarvis for Mpofu or Chibhabha.

mpofu bowled very well i thought. his yorkers at the death are fantastic. he did well in the one game in BD, and kept naeem quite. and he bowled some good yorkers against the proteas as well. i would drop chibhaba if he can't provide anything with the bat. his bowling is not anything ot write home about.eugene wrote:Even though we lost, I am relatively happy with the performance of the team. In answer to your question aydee, no, in fact no Zim batsman has ever scored a ODI 100 against South Africa other than Taibu
http://stats.cricinfo.com/zimbabwe/engi ... ;type=team
I hope that there are highlights on the internet somewhere so that we can all get the chance to see Taibu and Matsikenyeri put together the second highest partnership ever in Zim ODI history, i was particularly critical of the way Taibu batted in the 1st and 2nd ODI's in Bangladesh so i'm hoping that he scored these runs today by playing a lot of proper cricket shots, this amount of runs show that Zim need him in the side and batting with responsibility and maturity.
