Nope, this is a bit difficult, actually. Let me give another clue: He was one of the tallest keepers around during his playing days, and after finishing with officiating in Cricket, he became a managing director in a different field.

is it Howard Gardiner? as i think he managed a company which involved gas cylinders

Yep! That's him, Howard Arthur Bruce Gardiner, who, at 6' 5'', one of the tallest keepers ever to have played first class cricket, and the man who officiated in 1 test and 5 ODIs as match referee. He also served as MD of BOC Zimbabwe Ltd., the gas firm.

118. He might well be coming back according to latest reports, but if he cannot tell his mouth from his eyes, he won't be of much help :)

He was the first Zimbabwean to score a century in each innings of a test match. 1997 match against New Zealand in Harare I believe.
