Fine match figures of 3/41 off 21 overs including 6 maidens. Very stingy when it comes to giving away runs at 1.95econ. I'm glad he's picked up both openers, and seeing as those poor coaches of ours are going to persist with him anyway, I hope it's a precursor of what he'll finally do for Zim in whites!

Once again he's not putting daylight between himself and the backup bowlersunfortunately! The likes of Smidt, Small & Badenhorst, who've barely come out of their cocoons, have no business doing this well at this level! Which is a reflection of how poor the batting there is when the national team players are absent. It's evident when you see the mature fringe players who couldn't cut it at international level, like Hopkins, Sinclair, How, Hamish & Ingram being the ones who do well(McIntosh missed out here & he's been on a rot anyway). All these bowlers continue to struggle against them!

The fact remains, Rocks aside - Jarvis hasn't & wouldn't do this well in our Logan Cup even against our national batsmen-less franchises! Therefore, I remain against the belief that the Plunkett Shield is superior to the Logan Cup when the national team players are away! Too much poor bowling and batting doing the rounds, and most of their new/young bowlers wouldn't cut it in the Logan Cup. As better strikers than Jarvis - I think our fringe Test bowlers like Shingi, Meth & Chatara would be ripping through these batting orders, just as they're doing in the Logan Cup! On the flipside - our fringe batsmen would fold there!

3/41 off 21, both openers and a tail ender. Opposition gone on Day 1 which means he should get another innings of bowling in this match weather permitting. So far so good.

Man, Jarvis is kicking some butt in the vastly superior Plunkett Shield.

More wickets for KMJ, but a bit on the expensive side. And he cleaned up the top order only to suffer at the hands of Munro who seemed to be in a hurry. Good stuff from him anyway!

Nothing to write home about really!! CD had already conceded close to a 100run deficit. With the match rain affected it was clear that Auckland were under little pressure and would go for the kill and extend the lead, which they did, largely thanks to Jarvis, and they're standing at 299 with 2 wickets to still to fall and a win imminent.

The fact that Auckland's innings run rate is 3.5 and Jarvis went for over 5 is telling. That Noema-Barnett went for 1.90 is even more telling. I've said it time and again, any decent batsmen can do with Jarvis as they please when they choose to. He has neither the aptitude nor the intelligence to prevent that! His peers are either allrounders or fresh on the scene - it's a crime for them to curb the run rate this far much better than our Test spearhead!

20 wickets are always the key in matches, but as was the case with us against NZ in Byo, the primary goal was to restrict the rate run scoring so as to delay them making a declaration, thus increasing the chances for a draw or reducing their chances of forcing a win. Under those circumstances wickets fall naturally, and after an ineffective 1st innings, Jarvis partly redeemed himself by leading the attack very well during the crucial Williamson-Taylor partnership in their 2nd innings. Combined with Ross' uncomfortable declaration, that is really what gave us a chance then!

In this case he failed miserably, and the wickets won't make up for it. He played into their hands and he couldn't help it. Quite rightly he deserves commendation, but acknowledge the glaring flaws so we can have proper criticism for the young man and he can improve instead of relaxing and taking comfort in the fact that he's picking up wickets, but there's still limited progress in his game, and the international level is not kind to such shortcomings.

Nonetheless I am impressed by his performances under conducive bolwing conditions, and only want them to get better. If not for him, then the ease with which he reaches the top of the bolwing charts will give me the satisfaction of proving that his inability to replicate the same in Zim means we do not have an inferior FC competition, considering their internationals are away there as well!
