ZIMBABWE Cricket continues to bring in specialist coaches to conduct coaching with Terrence Jenner, the spin coach well-known for mentoring Australian great leg spinner Shane Warne expected in the country at the end of this month.


Jenner will arrive in the country on 26 January and will carry out coaching for spinners in the country’s five franchises.
ZC managing director Ozias Bvute confirmed the developments.
“We are expecting Terry Jenner on 26 January to hold coaching courses with our spinners, this is part of our programme to improve the standard of cricket in the country,’’ said Bvute.
The 65-year-old Jenner is an Australian spin coach who is credited with honing the skills of Warne, a legendary leg spinner who at some stage held the record for the highest number of wickets in Test cricket.
Warne retired at the beginning of 2007 after helping Australia to a home Ashes series win over England. He is the second highest wicket taker in Test cricket with 708 wickets, a record held by Sri Lankan off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan who has taken 792 wickets in the longer version of the game.
Jenner, who played nine Tests for the Aussies in the 1970s as a leg spinner, becomes the second specialist coach to conduct coaching in the country after former England fast bowler Mike Hendrick who came late last year.
The country has a number of promising spinners who have the potential to make an impact on the international stage. These include off spinners Prosper Utseya, John Nyumbu, leg spinners Graeme Cremer, Tymicen Maruma, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Natsai Mushangwe and Dumisani Mankunzini.

Does anybody know anything about Dumisani Mankunzini. (Apart from he had a ruck on the pitch once)

He's definitely a wrist spinner. I saw him bowl on the SA tour 3 years ago, when he played in a T20 game. He actually bowled mainly googlies, with the odd leggie thrown in during that game, but he is definitely a wrist spinner. That is why he seems to be quite an attacking spinner, who will take wickets, but also leak runs. Perhaps also why his one day record is not as good this year, as I can't imagine he has anywhere near the level of control that Utseya or Price have.

I watched Maruma bowl for Zim A vs Bangladesh in 2005, and he could spin it a mile. The Bangadeshis seemed all at sea against him, and mind you they are a subcontinental side

What about kamungozi.

The boy just never did it for me Jamthala. He didn't spin the ball and he was a liability in the field. There's better athletes and spinners than him in Zimbabwe now, and i doupt he'll ever make it back onto the international stage.
