[Match Thread] Tri Series: Zim v SL: Match 1

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

Here goes the match thread.

Here's Liam Brickhill's preview: http://www.espncricinfo.com/tri-nation- ... 66097.html

This is his predicted XI:
Zimbabwe (possible): 1 Chamu Chibhabha, 2 Brian Chari, 3 Craig Ervine, 4 Hamilton Masakadza/Tarisai Musakanda, 5 Sean Williams, 6 Sikandar Raza, 7 PJ Moor (wk), 8 Graeme Cremer (c), 9 Tendai Chisoro, 10 Carl Mumba, 11 Tinashe Panyangara
If Masakadza is slated to play in the middle order, might as well bench him. In shorter formats, his effectiveness is when he is opening. So, Go with Musakanda if that is the toss up. The kid anyway deserves his first national cap.

Yeah give Musakanda a go. We need to blood some new players.

I know there are a lot of people wondering why Daniel Jakiel hasn't already debuted in international cricket given we are crying out for a 150kmph economical strike bowler, but I recently learned that it's because he actually hasn't made himself available for selection. There is some chatter that Jakiel is considering making himself available for selection for this series though, so that is really positive news.

Sorry to upset you guys, my contact within the Zim Government has told me that Jakiel has been officially barred from selection, it seems that Health and Safety have deemed him too quick and too dangerous to let loose against below average Sri Lankan or West Indian batsmen, I understand that the ICC have fully agreed with this decision so he'll have to wait until the future series against Ireland

Daniel Jakiel is "The Man from Earth": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/

That is why even Cricinfo does not know his birth date.

P.S.: Watch that movie, it is gripping to the end.

I've got a feeling Liam Brickhill has been reading this forum again.
