Zim grouped with India, WI and PNG for U19 WC

India have been clubbed with Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea besides the West Indies in Group C, and will play their first match in Townsville, Queensland.

PNG cricket seems to be on an upward curve overall. The full national side can still qualify for the T20 WC. Andy Bichel, if I'm not mistaken, is doing a pretty good job there. They have frequently toured Australia or packed off their youngsters to Australian acadmies in recent years, getting more exposure on turf wickets, something they've lacked in the past. Thus the conditions in Queensland will not be alien to them.

Very exciting times for them over there. The National team is now in WCL Div 2. Maybe one day they could be playing shield cricket in Australia.

It gets mentioned from time to time when media does a positive news story on PNG cricket about how not long ago a junior representative side turned up to a WC event, but was not supplied with equipment.

I think we are going to be surprised . At least our under 19 got game time against SA and Pakistan . I was hoping we could play 2 other u 19 sides in a mini series .
