Jarvis' second stint with Central Districts.
Jesse's been decimating New Zealand bowlers during his extended time away from the Black Caps, while Tamim smashed Jarvis out of the Zim attack during the ODIs and seemed happier to face him whole day during the Test! CD's inexperienced captain entrusted Jarvis with the duties of opening the bowling against Tamin and Ryder in his first game. Do your homework son! Economy rate about right though, expect more of the same.

That Wellington team looks loaded. I wonder how Jarvis took to the wind at the Basin?

By the look of his hairstyle in his cricinfo profile, i'd say he's having serious wind problems

Done a bit better in his second match; expensive again, but picking-up three wickets.

1/33 off 3.5 overs against Canterbury!
After 3 matches, 11.4 overs - he has 4 wickets but conceded 108 runs at 9.25 economy rate!
When will people learn that this boy at best is worth persisting with in FC/Test matches. Short format and one begins to wonder what's the objective of selecting him!?

Re: Jarvis' second stint with Central Districts.
Futile attempt to hide him at 2nd change in CD's reverse fixture against Canterbury!
0/46 of 3 overs. 15.33 economy rate is more than double what his peers were going at.
Selecting him for the limited overs, at a cost of money - however little it is, is one of the dumbest decisions the person responsible made! And NZ cricket certainly isn't short of them right now!
Considering that his top order team-mates did the damage against the Canterbury bowlers, it must be heartbreaking for them since their frontline bowlers did likewise against opposition's top order batsmen, only for KJ to single-handedly concede the game to 'low order' sloggers with an over of his quota still outstanding!
Unless they want him chucked out of the Test team, I seriously wonder what could possibly possess our selectors to include him for the ODI & T20 legs for WI!
Anyway, will be interesting to see if he's part of CD's next XI. Can't strike, can't contain!

Re: Jarvis' second stint with Central Districts.
0/24 off 3 overs against Otago in the latest match for young Kyle. 5matches, 17.4overs, 178runs at 10rpo and just 4wickets at 45! Punishing to wake up to this nightmare game after game! How many balls has he bowled and been fetched beyond the fence!
Anyway, I love the fact that Jarvis backers are too embarrassed to say a thing, and he can't help the situation.
It will teach Central Districts that guys likes Eddie, Tinashe & Mupariwa exist, and while the inept Zim selectors/coaches - as their own - are not smart enough to pick them for the national team, they should do their homework beyond the Meth, Shingis, Ncubes & Vitoris who donned our red recently!

Hhm, at least you don't even try to hide your sheer joy and pleasure at Kyle Jarvis not performing well. What is your real issue with Jarvis? Did he wrong your family or something?

http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-n ... or-himselfOnce again the magical surrounds of Pukekura Park provided the backdrop for a compelling Central Stags victory against the Northern Knights in the Twenty20 competition, just their first of the season.
With this result in mind and the fact that the crowds are continually the best in the country, maybe it's time for the association to play a lot more fixtures at this venue. I'm certain the locals will find the time and money to attend further games each year and, of course, there will soon be a big flash practice net in operation for the teams to fine-tune their game.
The highlight of the day was the wonderful innings of Taranaki youngster William Young, who demonstrated a power and fluency that suggests he will be a leading run-getter at this level for years to come. His maturity and leadership ability suggests he will be captaining the side in the not too distant future. His "time" is indeed not far away.
In the meantime, the Central Districts stag head, a nine-pointed pair of horns, originally to indicate the nine sub-associations making up the region, may well have to consider growing a few extra "points" so that a couple of international ones can be added.
Professionalism has brought with it a whole range of changes, almost invariably for the good but, in the case of promoting a regional culture and creating a challenge for local players to strive for, the current selection policy has kicked a whole heap of players fair in the midriff.
I don't imagine any professional sporting franchise cares too much about where a player is born or where he has recently played but if Central Districts is to maintain a modicum of belief and confidence from players within its boundaries, then it must show that it is willing to provide an opportunity for those who are developed within the region.
The inclusion of Zimbabwean Kyle Jarvis to the bowling crease for Saturday's game, and no doubt for more to follow, is uncalled for and unnecessary.
For season after season, Taranaki's Jamie Watkins has proved himself on the bowling front and surely it is someone of this ilk who should be handed a "cap" rather than a travelling gypsy, who is no more likely to bowl four inexpensive or crucial overs than Watkins.
The three losses from four games also highlights an imbalance in the squad with only Kieran Noema-Barnett a noted big hitter of the ball, which makes one wonder why a player such as Auckland's Jeet Ravaal was offered a contract when the likes of Dean Robinson, with a handful of games under his belt, a ton of promise and one big hundred already, is well capable of fulfilling the same role for Central in the four and one-day fixtures.
Ad Feedback
Surely a "horses for courses" selection could have seen a place for Robinson and a specialist Twenty20 player selected for those games.
Loyalty was always a huge part of what teams and individuals were about and in the case of Central Districts, it was the moulding together of a far flung group from both the North and South Islands. There was a special culture in the way this developed and was nurtured and a special identity developed.
Of course, time moves on and loyalty now is more to oneself to perform at a consistently high level and by doing so then being of greater use to the team. However, when there is opportunity for old-fashioned loyalty to raise its head, such as in a selection between two relatively equal players, then surely the local player should receive the nod.
Whatever selection system criteria is used there must be a "weighting" that leans towards picking players who already play within the boundaries of the Central Districts Association.
