Well done Williams our best scorer of 50s. Needs to turn this into a big one.
That's a lot of half centuries from a Zimbabwean perspective isn't it, I didn't know he's had that may, with only 1 century.
High time he makes the step up now. He's come into his own this series and the series against South Africa, hasn't he.
Brilliant reverse sweep from Taylor too.

I think having watched the recovery from these two, that shot from Cephas up top looks even worse, in a lot of ways.
It shows he doesn't have the brains to realise the wicket is slow and needed time to acclimatise; his technique is not up to scratch and his concentration levels are terrible. That shot has really put me off him opening the batting.

Good knock but needed more.

Raza nice start :6: These two really need to bat through to over 45.

Yeah, Williams gets to 50 more often than anyone else, just doesn't go on. To be fair to him he is often low down the order and no one is left. Andy Flower only managed 4 100s to go with his 55 half centuries

Simply great to see Taylor back in form. How badly zimbabwe needed that to happen? Williams has looked very good since the South Africa tour.
Yea he looked a bit scratchy in the last ODI, I think, but he still did a good job of sticking around. I would love Sean to get a ton today - a really talented cricketer and we're very lucky to have him.

I think people on this forum need to appreciate these guys while we still have them; one day they'll be gone, like in the ODI series against Pakistan, and look how that turned out. They're gold dust to us, considering we have very few options to replace them for the foreseeable. When they're gone (when ever that will be) these kind of recovery knocks will be missed. Mazakadza has been really poor considering he is a, the skipper and b, opening the batting as a senior player.
Agreed mate but by that time Zimbabwe need to groom some youngsters who can take their positions. I think the likes of Burl, Muskanda, K-long, Murray... They aren't that bad.. Moor will be around... Need to be groomed.

Hami broken is better than duck after duck.
Duck after duck is assumption. Hami got his start as a 17 year old, now you are being hesitant on letting other youngsters have the same opportunity. If he can produce consistent top scores above 30, he cements his spot. He isn't doing that, so time for the youngsters to be tested.

And I equally agree with you, but Williams and Taylor aren't the batters to be subsidised for the young lads. Zuwaho, Chibahba, Chigumbura and I hate to say it, but maybe soon to be Hamilton Mazakadza need to be cut. I've always stuck up for Hammie, but his scores of late, opening the batting, when we needed some seniority and solidity up front, have been diabolical and his shots even worse. Ervine is falling into that category, but his technique is better than all of the above and has the natural ability to grind it out and score ugly runs. Plus, he's been solid in the longer format.

I'm just saying that we need to hold onto Sean Williams, Raza, Taylor and maybe even Bobby (from what I saw in South Africa); having youth in the side is one thing, but the Pakistan series was a great template for what can happen when experience isn't there too. Roche, Murray, Tari, Kamu and Mavuta all performed well enough in that series, but they looked confused as to how to play the situation.
