I wonder what the longest streak is when Zimbabwe have kept the same order of there top six? seems to change around every game now, cant be good for the batsman.

Whoever selected team did a rubbish job. All this rotation of batsmen needs an explanation. The way Chigumbura fell is totally inexcusable for someone holding the hopes of a nation.

Those moron selectors! What were they thinking? First of all they drop a batsman for a bowler in a batting line up that is already thin without Sean Williams simply because they have not the courage to drop either Utseya or Graeme Cremer?

And who do they drop: Chamu Chibhabha. Whatever for? He more than anybody else in that brief knock of 21 on Sunday seemed capable than anybody of playing the fast bowlers. Hell, even the talismanic Masakadza was scratchy.

They have finally seen sense over sentimentality by dropping Mark Vermuleun, but his replacement – Coventry – is not dissimilar. Better, but by not much.

Elton Chigumbura seems physically afraid of fast bowling. Now, that’s strange. But now we know something we didn’t before and it will serve as a useful lesson in future. Put him in the middle against spinners or medium pacers and he’s fine – hell, he'll even tear them to pieces, for good measure!

But any attempt to play him as a specialist batsman, like the management is trying to do right now, against the genuinely quick bowlers and you are wasting your time.

And, yes, Taylor is no opener. Let’s get over that illusion. In the middle is fine, since everybody seems to be infatuated, but his inconsistency and the way he gets out so cheaply is worrying.

Boy, don’t we miss Williams. Now that’s a player.

Well said @Conant! I also think dropping Chibhabha wasnt much of a smart move. I think he has done wel in the absence of sean williams.looked much more solid opening on sunday than the freak show we witnessed today. Am relieved i didnt go to watch the game. Jarvis needs more time within the domestic structure tends to be expensive.

Well, zim had to strengthen the bowling. Say what you like about Utseya, but at least he keeps the RR reasonable. Price is a decent international bowler and the only other bowler we have that can cope (and is available) is Mupariwa. I can see why one is frustrated at replacing a batsman with Jarvis, who really has to go and learn some cricket now in the franchises, but what could they do after not bringing Mupariwa along - is there a good reason he was not selected?

Vermuelan can play cricket - I'm not sure what his problem is now but he can bat. These guys have not been playing regular high level cricket for a long time...surely some patience is required. The real issue has to be with the decision to play SA. BD is one thing - I think we could have done better but it is too soon to take on SA
