It appears to have gone unannounced thet Vusi Sibanda has now scored over 1,000 runs this Zimbabwean season (09/10) and this before the end of November.
This is a fantastic achievement for a player who until this time had flattered to decieve and many thought had been lucky to gain the caps and selections that his previous form had not warranted.
His form over the last 3 months (which includes 7 centuries) at least proves that the selectors faith him was not only justified but also confirms a great eye for talent as his performances at school, junior age group and academy did not suggest that he would be the run machine that he has now become. We should also remember that he has only just passed his 26th birthday.

Has 1,000 ever been scored in a Zimbabwe first class season before??
Very obscure stat, I know, but scoring 1,000 is always a big deal in county cricket. If the expanded franchise fixture list is here to stay, this may be an achievement we se several times in the coming years.

Let's hope this form can translate to national team success. Vusi Sibanda has always been a great disappointment when playing for Zimbabwe. I can't really remember any innings of note from him.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Well done, Vusimuzi Sibanda !
I reckon, he is surely going to make the next Zimbabwean national squad after this extra-ordinary performance in domestic cricket.
As far as I can recall, he was in the peak of his batting form in 2007 season when Zim toured South Africa. I think, he made a century opening partnership with Masakadza in that series. His off side drive is a shot to watch out for. But his form started to fall really badly in the 2008/09 season and was finally dropped. But since then he has replied with the bat.
I hope that he can serve the national team as well by repeating his excellent performanes.

Super human effort so far indeed. If proving your class is the goal, this is how you do it.
