I'd say Brendon Taylor for the fact that he can change his style of play when necessary, and has been one of our most consistant performers in the past couple of tours. Willimas is catching on though, fast !! He's got one of the greatest techiques in Zimbabwe, possobly as good as the great Andrew Flower himslef ?? :ugeek:

I have to agree with Sloan that Willie brings back memories of young Andy with his approach to batting. Come to think of it, that is the reason I became a fan of Sean Williams :)

If you consider the tightness of his batting technique and class, he brings back memories of Andy. But yes, an overall comparison is far fetched still, as the other facotrs like temperament, decisiveness and commitment must be developed a lot to reach there. His horrific luck with injuries haven't helped the matters either.

Just before I left Zim in early 2008, I wrote an article at the Sunday News on William entitled “Shades of Andy Flower.” Not sure if it can still be found on the net, but yes I was making comparisons with him and the legend himself, both batting style and the way he seems at once to be at ease with both spin and pace bowling. However some may remember “Wake up call for Zim” when they were playing as the Chevrons in the MTN domestic league

Wonderful articles, Conant. If I remember correctly, Williams was pretty much carrying the Zim batting during that time, and if not for his injury in the middle of the MTN series, Chevrons would have had much better results there. He was in such rich vein of form.

After taking a look at the the thread on Al Campbell, I noticed a few posts were heading towards the the title of this thread, so I decided to bump it.

Brendan Taylor for me is by far our best batter. The stats say so and all this talk about Vusi being our best batter is utter rubbish. Forget the poor footwork and ugly technique, what matters is getting the runs and when it comes to getting runs there is only one guy who's done that consistently for us over the years and his name is Brendan Taylor
Vusi, Mawoyo, H.Masakadza, Taylor, Ervine, Williams, Mutumbami, S.Masakadza, Meth, Price, Jarvis
