[Match Thread] Zimbabwe U19 v Canada U19
Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe U19 v Canada U19
The performances at this level must be starting to become a real worry. Defeats to Malaysia, Ireland & Nepal last time, and what is clearly a stronger side here losing to Canada. This is the sort of opposition Zim really need to be beating...

Unbelievable. I was really looking forward to whatching the boys play in this match and i've not even had that chance. A very average performance by these chaps. They certainly need to buck there ideas up for the next match. Move on Zimbabwe, you've been beaten by Canada, accept it.

So many extremely positive developments for Zim cricket in the last 6 months, sadly very few of them on the field. I guess improved performances will come with time, just got to be patient.

For some reason I was very optimistic about this team.At present all that is gone.I cant believe we lost aganist Canada.A team that was beaten by hong Kong. What a pity to say the least.Same old story, good bowling and poor batting is now the curseof Zimbabwe Cricket. These boys are not consistent at all.How can they almost manage to chase a good total aganist Parkistan and fail to chase a small total aganist one of the weakest teams of the tornament. This defeat raises plenty of questions than answers. How good is our school system at present? Do we have enough batting coaches at grassroots level? What is the way forward cause surely our young cricketers need more to be able to compete with the rest of the test nations. They are our future and at the moment our future is not that bright. The guns will be out if we lose somemore games aganist the smaller teams!!!! Very disappointed

Despite all the positive developments off the field, we are yet to see any improvement on the field. Last time at the Under-19 world cup losses to Malaysia, Nepal, etc, were explained away by the Zimbabwean team not being full strength. This time however there are no excuses. I hope Kevin Curran's conservative coaching isn't going to come back and haunt us again.

It's just a joke if you ask me. Kurran shouldn't have anything to do with Zimabbwe cricket. It's all well and good him saying that he wants to give back to the country what he was given. Well sorry sir, but if that's going to come at a high price then we dont need you and we don't want you !! There's so much potential in thsi Zimbabwean squad it's just untrue. Seriously. Aside from the defeats, guys like Waller have really shined in the tournament. These boys just need the right guy and team managment in order for them to progress into international cricket. For me Kurran is not the man. What happened to Andy Pycroft. He was a more that capable coach, and a man that played to win, not to just draw or play okay. We've got some serious work to do, because things are only gonna get tougher fr these boys as the tournament goes on. Get your heads up and move on, accept the defeat, and if your going to point any fingers at anybody, pont them at yourselves. You done nobody justice....

I usally agree with most things that you say sloandog but i cant this time. This is not Currens fault and Zimbabwe are very lucky to have such an experianced cricketer in the system who is willing to coach youngsters.
If you look at the match we were 129-3, dont tell me that its Curren's fault that we collapsed, it was purely down to the players and id put my house on them admitting that. Yes i agree that Curren isn't the greatest man manager but he knows about the game.
Just remember these under 19 world cups arnt about results, they are about the players that stand up and show they can hack the pressure. I think the lads need to look at themselves and ask each other do we want to play at the highest level.

Fair point Zimfan1, maybe i put my point across a little to harshly, but it's his stratergy that i ditest. Just by competeing isn't going to help anybody, it's a poor mentality going into the game. As the coach he should want his players to win and perform to the best of their abilities.

Well yes curran was in the dressing rooms and the players were on the field, but what i was trying explain is that i can't see any progression in this side. The batting is VERY inconsistant and results are hard to come by, so what i'm saying is that Curran (in my mind) isn't having an impact on the team full stop. Therefore the players aren't performing and collapses which you have pointed out will occur more and more often as a result. And he may well know about the game, but so does Andy Pycroft and many others who i think could fullfill the role more efficiently.zimfan1 wrote:If you look at the match we were 129-3, dont tell me that its Curren's fault that we collapsed, it was purely down to the players and id put my house on them admitting that. Completely agree with you. Kevin Curran is a very well qualified person to be in charge of this side, infinitely more talented and experienced cricketer than the man in charge of the national team! Sorry to have to say it, but the main problem is that this side is not very good. Played about 20 matches in the last few months, only beaten Pakistan (once out of 8), Afghanistan and a couple of SA franchise u18 sides.zimfan1 wrote:I usally agree with most things that you say sloandog but i cant this time.
